JSA sign in this Tuesday, cant attend- can I change it?

Hi I have a JSA sign in this Tuesday, however I'm not able to make it for the sign in. I'm going to London tomorrow for few days, Will the job centre take this into consideration and arrange another date?? are they quite strict this way??

If your going to london for pleasure purposes, This wont be acceptable and put down as missed and you wont get payment. So no you cant rearrange unless its an emergency.
  • DD had to change hers because of a job interview but she had to show proof of interview and attendance

The post two above is totally wrong.

Yes, you can delay signing on, you will not get paid until you sign-on though. Ask them for a holiday form (If DWP still use them) when you are on the phone to them or they might just give you a date to head to the Jobcentre.

If you got a letter stating the Interview or an e-mail take a copy along with you.

I don't have any proof, just been asked to come in over the phone and I plan on going around the job agencies in London.

It used to be - there was a form called JSA90 - the office you attend would fax it to the office you usually attended and they would process the payments.

Go on Wednesday so as not to miss your signing on day.

Not worth the aggro of missing signing on.

Speak to your Jobcentre and ask if you can rearrange the appointment, the worst they can say is no. If you are going for a job interview let the JC know and get a statement from the company interviewing you to state that you've had an interview when you go so you can prove it to the JC.
If it's an informal job interview then ask if you can delay it for a day then you won't have this worry.
