As already said, 4x4's do not make you invincible. Better, because you have power to twice as much rubber on the road, but still risky and when it comes to braking no different to a regular car except that you might have slightly bigger tyres and corresponding contact area.

.
Pedantic point on my part;
You wanted a change of direction on a right hand bend, Tina didn't:D:D
And to be deadly serious there was something you could have done about it as you were driving too fast for the bend under those conditions, wheather (pun intended) you realised it at the time or not,;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

I never said they do.
What they do do, is deter people from tailgating & make it easier to get going (off my sloping drive) in the snow.0 -

But it is a misconception that some people have, ie that they are better in snowy and icy conditions. Under braking, especially on ice, they are just as likely to find the ditch as any other motor;)

I think that's because nobody can see around the f*cking things when they need to overtake.
Tailgating is wrong, but with lower/smaller cars you can see through the car to the road ahead.
Being behind a 4x4 is like being stuck behind a truck or a van.... Only your much more likely to get attitude from the driver, who will probably try to accelerate and stop you overtaking.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Steady Strider;)
Based on todays weather, and we had 4" again this morning, I also came to the conclusion that a lot of 4x4's are effectively wasted in the hands of those who simply could not drive anything in the snow, no offence MrsE,,directed past you.
As regards seeing round them?, thatys not difficult and if you keep your distance, hint hint, you can see through them.
I past a couple of cars today thast were struggling, the 4x4s behind me didn't. but the other day waiting for an artic to clear a land rover zig zig zagged through the lot in perfect safety:T
It's not the car it's the driver;);););)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Hang back a bit, you will see better to overtake.0
