bad_pool_caller - Comp broke.

Options
Recently i just installed a DLINK router to the desktop pc. The following day i switched the pc on and it came up as a blue screen saying bad_pool_caller. To restart and press f8 to go into safe mode.

I tried this and it seemed to accept safe mode, moving onto the black screen with the words safe mode in each corner. It then moved onto the welcome to windows loading page. and then shot straight bak to the error page saying bad_pool_caller.

Its been like this since last Wednesday. I have even unplugged the router completely and thats done nothing. I know thats because i installed the stuff on the cd it came with is on the pc.

Im going to take it to a pc repair shop in leith edinburgh, see if they have any luck....hope its not a new pc i need....If it is, can they salvage anything to make me a new pc (well drom the base unit )

It's a driver/software problem not hardware, and routers don't need drivers.

Is your data backed up elsewhere?

try safe mode with command prompt

The system probably has a factory restore partition (CTRL F11 at boot), however this will wipe all your data - if you need the data you could use a usb-ide/sata adapter to get it first

Pressing F12 at boot may allow you to boot from the CD, which may then allow you to do a repair, or chkdsk from recovery console

Have you tried last known configuration (off F8 screen below Safemode) and system restore to prior to Weds (24th)
