Well, after much searching we have decided to buy the above from a non Toyota main dealer. It is 2007/07 and with our trade in we think we have a good deal.
So before we finally pick up the car next week anything we should be aware of as this is our first Toyota and is out of manufacturers warranty.

Good choice, other than the usual HPI checks, nothing to worry about.
Nice car.0 -
Does "auto" mean a true automatic 'box? If it's a MMT version make sure you have a thorough and prolonged test drive in both "E" (so called Easy Mode) and "M" (Manual Mode) before deciding. You'll use M mode all the time because E mode is a total pile of unpredictable sh1te.
The MMT is a dog, the obvious brainchild of someone who hasn't a clue and a representation as to why computers will never, in the foreseeable future, take over the world!:D
Modern Toyotas' build quality has gone down the nick and their interior fittings are just cheap and nasty plastic tat in line with most other marques!
Have I driven a MMT Toyota? Yes I unfortunately own one. However, it's French built which explains quite a lot.0 -
Thanks all. I had a look at Honest John earlier. It is T3 MM version. We had a long, about 3 mile drive in it, town, up steep hill and open road, it drove fine. Inside is unmarked, was owned by a disabled lady and has a couple of minor bodywork scuffs which will be done before we pick it up.
Thought they were built in UK didn't know about the French connection, however our Scenic and Smart are both built in France and have been reliable.
Oldagetravelor, what exactly is the problem with the gearbox, it seemed the same as the Smart car and a whole lot better than the Scenic?0 -
I think the Auris isn't French built- it is the Yaris?0

Yeah I thought the Auris was built in Derby0 -
The Aygo is built in the same factory as the Citroen C1 and the Peugeot 107, that is in Europe mainland, not sure where.0

The Auris will be from Burnaston, Derby as it isn't a "T-Spirit", Aygo/107/C1 is Czech, Yaris' are invariably French.
The newer MMT's are ok, people that drive "progressively" seem to get on fine with them, it's people that "press on" that get issues. Nature of the beast when you want to get cheap tax and good fuel economy as torque convertor auto's are so inefficient.0 -

But highly reliable, well proven system.0
