I have to thank this site for changing my attitude and behaviour towards my finances.
I started lurking in about Jan/ Feb and I had debts of around £7,000, since then I have pulled my socks up, sorted out the mess and have £1,740 left to pay (on 0%). I have started to make overpayments on my mortgage and have money in the bank to pay for things like Christmas, car insurance etc. I have even started to use a credit card again (cash back, taking advantage of the interest free period and paying off in full each month). For the first time I feel in control.
Has anyone else noticed a change in other areas of their life? I have, I realised that I absolutely loathe my job (ok, maybe that's harsh but I hate the fact that I am tied to it because of money) and I want to move to be near the sea, in a village. My job is very London-centric and I work long hours so a commute over an hour is a no-no. So, I thought back to when I was at uni and what I had wanted to do when I graduated, and looked into courses that I could do part time to achieve that. It is not cheap, I never thought I would be able to afford it but I started 4 weeks ago and I am loving it. My goal is to move out of London in 3 years' time.
Sorry for rambling, but I really am grateful, I do believe that MSE has changed my life.
    Saving for an early retirement!
