Hey, I'm not the only lurker?
I love dabbling in here for a few hours when GF is off somewhere. It gives a sense of satisfaction when you help someone you don't know, and probably will never meet. Reminds me of the film ' Pay It Forwards'
And the funniest bit is when you see someone with the post
"You may not believe it, but this system really works..." I'll leave you guys to fill in the blanks.
"Don't critisise what people look like, how they speak, where they are from, and what they are called. They cannot help it.
Do critisise what they say, and what they do, especially if what they say is different to what they do. They can help that"

We are moving countries soon. Before now I would have just gone with the most convenient provider of x, y, and z. Now I will really be looking hard at providers, to make sure we get the best deal.
    THANKS

I lurked for ages before signing up. Before I found this site I thought i was on my own with my debts. Now i realise there are so many of us in the same boat and we are all helping each other come through it. A big thumbs up to this forum and its great members  :T
  • I too am a sometime poster/ mostly lurker...

I love that by coming on this site I don't feel so alone in my DFW life-style. In life you can sometimes be surrounded by adverts/materialistic people/pressure to consume.
For me this site re-dresses the balance - I can see there are so many people out there who are also rejecting the consumer/have-it-now mind-set and I also love going on the OS board, picking up tips, making things myself, recycling etc.

So I guess I'm second-ing that thank you!

  • I lurked around here for about 2 years before I first posted. Mostly picking up on advice given to other people & adapting it for my own situation. Without this board though I think my debts would still be well into 5 figures.
  • well no-one would call me quiet but this site has helped me immensely. I'm planning to reduce my debt to under 10k by this time next year and have already cut my insurances and food bills in half thanks to tips from this site!

I lurked for about 6 months before I started posting. Theres really nothing to it and it makes you feel so much better to talk to others anonymously.

DFW has made a huge difference to my life in the past year and a half.

I am facing a tough time at the moment with a few things including redundancy and if it wasnt for MSE I would be in a real mess.

If I hadnt found this site and started changing my ways, I dread to think how I would be coping right now. It really has saved me.
  • Hi, all this is my first post here, so a big thanks first to Martin for setting up this site and a BIG thanks to everyone else here for tips and advice.
Two years ago I had debts of £6000  and they didn't seem to be going away, and so I finally pulled my socks up and dealt with it.
These boards have been a great help and at next month's payday I will finally pay off the last part of my debt (£176.37p) just in time for Christmas!

So Decembers pay packet will be mine, ALL mine!! :j

I will still be looking at the boards and hope I can help others, allthough I havn't had much to contribute up to now, once again, thanks to everyone.
    Biggest debt-£6000 @ June 2004
    Debt free date-Nov 2006 :j - DONE!!:T
