    Hi Pippi

glad you had a good break away. got caught into responding by your feeling 'miserable'. I spent the last five years doing my degree in my own time, and though I loved it it certainly gave me a stress i didnt really need. (especially as during that time i also lost my mother in law, then my grandfather, then my darling mother, then nearly got divorced with two small children).

As my hubby put it yesterday...'you're much more fun now you've given up your studies', after trouncing him for saying given up when i had actually completed them with honours, I had to agree.

Finish your thesis, put your heart and soul into it, but then let it go....lol... I am so glad I didn't sign up for another course out of habit.:T

Thank u so much. - been studying for 12 years now dine the kids dad left you do get into the habit.

Didn't know what made me happy before turns out it's always been muck!

You hit the nail on the head very much.

Great ideas on here LT cheesecake very nice - Darwin requires a STERN talking to, but you're right I did think of hiring him - a while back but he's too moody AND think our house is more of a liability than an asset it's a bit unusual .......

Budget under £1k - only a bit but like you all say that IS progress.

:) given up working for today

KC -a *small* google thing a day sounds great :) x

i was thinking of he could be of use to those who fly up there and need a vehicle they can camp from when they get there. But you know him better than we do.

Oh Pippi, I do understand that feeling! (The "I-should-be-happy-but-actually-I'm-blimmin'-miserable one, if I haven't just jumped in and assumed things and got the wrong end of the stick?)

But, I find when in that frame of mind, the worst thing I can do is to feel guilty for being unhappy.

Your goals look well on the way to being sorted, and remember January is always a b*st*rd of a bl**dy looooong (and dark) month! So don't be too harsh on yourself! :D

You're right and until he sulked like a piggie - I'd thought the same a while back - I'm still going to investigate why he is being a brute - but not for people other than friends to borrow

Of course the other side of it is there's a jolly splendid business up here doing just that and they do it wonderfully so wouldn't want to stand on any toes. Not done really - but of course you'd not know that there's a business here doing exactly that! Thank you :A

Lottie - :A thank you - I think maybe its OMG its work time again and OMG the break is over.

Onwards today off into office to be a very productive bunny

Pippi - I have been off-line for a few days and I haven't had time to catch up on your thread, but I wanted to say that if you were interested in renting part of your garden for my tent (and your washing facilities and maybe providing some food), I would really be interested in coming to visit your lovely island! If I was able to borrow transport (for a fee of course), that would be even better.

Please PM me if you want to discuss further.

    Thanks

just imagine the thesis like debt.

in 4 months it will be gone.

so then you have to work out how many words you have to do a week to make that target.

then you have to assign time values to that amount of words and set hours in the day for doing them. And then do them LOL

Does this make sense. You are so good at debt busting, could you not use those strategies to good effect with the thesis?

Pippi - Can I suggest that you PM Firewalker and CheeryDaff about your thesis. I'm sure they will be able to help :o

    Happy New Year Pippi.

Just back from my hols (late last night) and catching up. Love your plans. I particularly like the learn one thing a day. It doesn't have to be big, or an effort. I find that by keeping a daily journal where I list three things I am grateful for in the day and what I have learned today then you soon realise that you are already learning something new every day. We just dont always recognise it or even remember it.

With regards to the feeling miserable. I can empathise with that totally. I realised after my accident that although the doctor thought I was depressed that I was in fact just plain miserable. Intend to change that in a big way. Had long talk with Mr C who is also feeling miserable and we realise it is because we are apart so much. We want to change this but need to make a plan. Good luck with it all. I look forward to seeing how you approach it.

Oh and another thing - I intend to get to Orkney someway, somehow, this year so it would be lovely to meet up.

    Hi Pippi,
I know what you mean about the 'being unhappy when you ought not to be' situation. I was not enjoying life either; now I've bitten the bullet and left academia (which I never felt was right for me) I am much happier, although finances have taken a huge hit - not that they were that high-flying in the first place! Anyway so far I'm enjoying life again and managing to keep the wolf from the door (just about) and things seem to be getting busier so I have high hopes that I can make this work and I'm sure you will too.

Loved the 'stop procrastinating' goal - that should be mine too but I keep putting it off :rotfl:

Chilly here today but at the moment the sun is shining from a blue sky and I've optimistically hung some washing outside for the first time in about 2 months. Hope some bird doesn't poop on it!

Just found blackfly on my Schefflera plant - I had hoped that the freezing temperatures in the conservatory would have put paid to those.

By the way, anyone want any Jerusalem artichokes? I thought I'd try them because they are easy to grow, disease-resistant, have pretty flowers like sunflowers, make a good screen, produce lots of tubers... in fact there are all sorts of good things about them but sadly, after trying them roasted, boiled, steamed, fried, in soup and salads, I have to admit that I just don't like them :(

By the way, how about a tour of forum friends for an MSE holiday?
