:rotfl: at DD telling you to trust the hens :rotfl: I bet she will indeed be eating her words when you're running around later trying to catch them all, I can just imagine! :rotfl:0

Hi Pippi and all
I've been suffering withdrawal symptoms without your hilarious stripiness !
Garden thermometer thingy said it was -5 at 9.30 this morning. I fed the poor little birds and put warm water in the bird bath which has now frozen, must top it up
Are you still getting the extra hens Pippi? I've printed out your 'how to freeze eggs' thingy for my physio as she has lots of hens/eggs and bakes too.0 -
Hey there - doesn't everyone talk to hens?
GV - tell the physio the beaten way is the best but the other way works too! (And hello!) -5 - eek - showery here - about 4" snow. The hen water is fine now they are in the shed - but I broke the water butts for the other birds
Extra hens (4hen+3 cockerals) arrive this week - we'll see how they get on.
Have the first of the invigilation work tomorrow - 17 sessions with my name on them - which will be really helpful for extra money - I'll add them into my spreadsheet when they are done each day...............I hope the snow doesn't get too bad. I'm really glad I actually asked them if I could go on the list.
Council tax now sorted via the office too - must do the free school meal form for the kids...........saves them £3 a day (2x 1.50) - which they paid themselves from their allowance - so that money will be handy to reduce their allowance by or we'll come to some sort of solution - they get their family allowance money for lunches/clothes/etc - but if they don't need the lunch money (?) do I deduct it from them or is it mean - this at the moment is a crisis budget - so I can't exactly be handing over that to them - if I don't make any extra money then I need the money I was giving them. Tricky one.
Girls so far had a little explore but haven't wandered far - they can get up to the road but its 0.2 miles away - they'd have to be very silly KC (mind you...............!)Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:

Hello again,
just popping by to say no photos of greenhouse as yet but I have a cunning plan to demonstrate later. Wearing 2 pairs of stripey socks here - 'tis cold out in the garden.0 -

Be lovely to hear about it when you do thank you!
My garden has been kidnapped by the snow - can't do a thing - only thing I managed today was to burn the paper/cardboard/paper waste here. Bird tables got a refil - seeds and a bar of lard - (posh mind 27p I think from Mr T) I'd read somewhere you can use them to make fat balls - but I've just tried to do the lazy seed on the table on its own and the lard/fat in the hang up feeder (I'm so lazy - but I tell myself I'm experimental) - working a treat MUCH cheaper than fatballs from the shops - they seem to like the pure fat and they eat the seed - saves me money and hassling with melting the fat, adding seeds and then resetting it. I'm so so lazy - but convinced myself this is a good solution to my laziness as I can unwrap a bar of lard easily - but I've had the bird making stuff for ages and not done a thing will it - too much planning. (Honest)
Lula - lovely to hear about your socks - mine are (rather dashing) polkadot - both ski socks one blue one red - I tend to lose pairs in this house - socks tend to roam free here - nowt to do with bad housekeeping - its just more 'organic' management regimeTotal debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

Oh wow! Now thats a really good idea - that will see me buying animal products again :rotfl: thanks Pippi!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Birds love fat balls
We love making them (might sneakily make you a few when we're up there pippi :rotfl:). We usually do it with Trex though - white vegetable fat - looks the same as lard but not animals - usually find it in the same place - works exactly the same

Thats better, I must say. Sainsbo's do it?
And thinking about it ... how do you hang it up? Or don't you bother?2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
We make them inside old yogurt pots or similar, and put a bit of string through with a knot in the end, and then hang up in the yogurt pot (or cut the pot from round the outside and just hang up the fat ball)0

I made fatballs with my class last year. The birds really enjoyed them.0
