    Pippi, big hugs and yes I would call it a turnip even though I know it is a swede and I am a northerner.

    Cheery, love the sound of that lady. You reminded me of a crocheted outfit I had when younger. My Mum made it, it was orange two piece, bell bottom trousers and a dress with bell sleeves, loved it so much I cried when it got too small so my mum unpicked it all and made me a poncho and beret out of it. Thanks for the memory jerk. Off to check out the photo album, sure I have a picture of it somewhere.

    that's a brilliant image pippi.

    i too had a crochet dress. in fact ive still got it but it doesn't fit anymore and i can't bring myself to get rid of it. my mum had it made for me when i was about 18

    Thats a turnip! We didn't have swedes when I was growing up, so I didn't know about The Debate till years later :)

    the only turnip we had when i was a kid was the giant turnip that the farmer "pulled and pulled but it still wouldn't come up"
