i am lucky that the corner shop is about 3/4 doors down and as it's the main shop in the village (it's also the post office) the council grit our pavement so people can get to the shop without having an accidentGoals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000

Hi all
As my friend put it 'this snow thing isn't fun anymore'.
Positive vibes to all of you who are studying.
I was just thinking about the hens, perhaps there's a market for knitted tea cosy type things to keep hens warm in winter, they could have exciting stripey ones (i think I'm starting to go a bit odd fom being indoors too much).0 -
Poor greenval! I agree with your friend - this snow thing isn't fun any more! I've just cancelled my work in London tomorrow, and I've just phone the local branch of Milletts to see if they have any wellies - nope! And they're the only shop that would have - I don't dare go out on the looksee, so I really am stuck now. I might go out in my trainers just to clear a path to the gate, to make it clear to people that there *is* somebody living here, and they're not dead
but thats it.

Rather shockingly I don't have wellies either  Well, I have little ankle wellies, but they're neither use nor ornament in this weather :rotfl: Walking boots, leg warmers (very 80s - and borrowed from Mr Daffs :rotfl:) and waterproof trousers (if I can be bothered) all the way here

Hi all
Karmacat, my wellies came from ASDA of all the unlikely places, might be worth a try.0 -
i have wellies on my christmas list and i know my mum has bought them already. i asked her the other day if i could have them early and she said no. she did say that if i had to walk to work at any point in this snow then "santa could lend them to me" :rotfl:Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000

Put your socked foot in a carrier bag, tape the top of the carrier bag to your leg making sure it's not pulled up tight (though the seal needs to be tight) and you've got ankle wriggle room. Put your foot into a old shoe. Repeat as per how many feet you have.

That *is* shocking, seeing as its you :rotfl:Karmacat, my wellies came from ASDA of all the unlikely places, might be worth a try.
Asda is in the next town up, along the railway thats suspended right nowI could walk to Sainsbury, if they have them (I'd ring and check) but to be honest - I don't want to. Thats a 20 minute brisk walk in ordinary times, heaven knows how long it would take in this weather, and its just not *necessary* but thank you! I might well go shopping there over the weekend if it warms/thaws at all.

I did wonder about carrier bags, great minds and all that, but I did it as was anyway, not too bad at all, and took lots of piccies - of the road, the house, the path - I just swept everything out of the way with an old long handled broom I keep at the front nowadays (originally it was to sweep daddy long legses off the front door before I opened it!) The gate was under a *lot* of snow - 14" now, and still falling steadily.
Pippi, this is so long its a bit of a hijack, sorry.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
KC- I'm pretty sure Sainsbury's doesn't do wellies in that there town......best bet would be a garden centre but not easy without a car.....hmm.
I don't have wellies either as I can't get my 'bad leg' into anyhave tried all sorts of boots, but have to stick to my walking boots and wet legs (or Z's carrier bag trick)
