Talk Talk overcharging CHECK YOUR BILL

I received my online monthly bill from talk talk and noticed that they were charging me an extra £7.74. They had added a service I didn't request. Mega download boost at £4.00 for one month advance payement and £3.74 for a part month payment.. I emailed talk talk and was told the service had been added in error and the amount would be credited next month. That would have meant talk talk having £7.74 of my money in their account for a month. I emailed the chief executive of talk talk who got the amount credited back onto my account immediately. How many other people has this happened to who may not have noticed. Check your bills.

  • I signed up for Talk Talk last May or June, the super smooth salesman sold me an inclusive package for £7.49 per month which included 0845 and 0870 numbers, THAT was the only reason i signed up with them, I wouldnt have changed otherwise. The first bill they overcharged me, I called them and they refunded the overcharged amount, second month they overcharged me, another refund, and so on and so on. One month they overcharged me over £20 and took the money from my bank account, yet another call. I cancelled the direct debit as they constantly overcharged me, so they then started charging me extra for not paying by direct debit. The trouble is when you phone this COMMUNICATIONS company you need to set aside an hour at least, this involves being transferred not just between departments but countries. I eventually got fed up with constantly having to call Talk Talk to get a refund so I asked them to cancel the account, by recorded delivery letter, which they totally ignored and denied receiving, then by phone. They have continued to charge me even after I had transferred back to BT.

THIS IS MY WORST EXPERIENCE EVER OF ANY UTILITIES COMPANY, MY ADVICE TO ANYONE IS DO NOT USE THEM.

Finally they have now instructed debt collectors to collect £36 that I don't owe.

It was quite interesting to see one of their directors on BBC's Rip Off Britain on 19/01/2011, Mark !!!!!!, defend Talk Talk for sending an 87 year old lady 28 letters in one day (great communication Talk Talk), they cut her off, and his excuse was a glitch in the system. Yeah yeah yeah, how many glitches before they sort themselves out.

This has happened to me, though I was undercharged initially.

I've been with them a few years and recently agreed upon a new monthly DD payment (after phoning Retentions) for £19.25, a yearly contract.

First DD payment was around £12, which was a surprise, then the second was around £20.

I said to a friend, maybe they just throw a dart at a dartboard and then email your bill!

I'd agree that it's best to check your bills carefully with them. Strangely, this is the first time in all the years I've been with TT that they've got the figures wrong.

I should also add, to those wondering why I haven't phoned them to query the strange bill amounts: They are a NIGHTMARE to phone.

You either get someone helpful and on the ball, or uninterested and unknowledgeable (and I'm not talking difficult questions, either). It's happened so often that I only phone CS as a last-ditch attempt. If I can, I go on the Forums instead; they're prompt and helpful on there (assuming I can get online).

I'm watching my bills and will contact them if the strange amounts continue..
