I thought the purpose of road signs on the roads..are to warn you or give you information about the road..
e.g, slow..means slow down, 30 means 30 mph..
so what about the speed camera when there ISN'T one!!!!!
they are misleading drivers and road users..
I understand why they do it..to save money putting cameras up and maintainance..but misleading and deceiving us..I think is wrong?
What do you think? should I complain to the transport minister??

if you go to a supermarket and the price states 10pence..but go to the till and it cost £2..yes, i know..its different..!! ones on the road and the other is in a supermarket!!

(again..speed cameras are meant to slow us down and cause unnecessary braking and causing accidents...)

I've just recently considered this myself. I see it as false advertising. You can get done for false advertising can't you?

if so, it might be o.k. for the government but not for other individuals!!
how can they get away with it..

was driving in Wales on the w/e and its full of them..so thats what prompted this..making driving even slower!!!

Only if you can show the false advertising costs the consumer money... for one I dont think you would be successful in arguing that you are a consumer of the speed camera.

The whole system will most likely be changing soon anyway with the decision that cameras will no longer have to be signed nor painted yellow etc.

I guess the return arguement is that they are warning you that there may be speed cameras ahead (eg mobile unit) in the same way that a warning triangle sign, for example, will warn you that there may be a deer crossing the road rather than saying that if you go round the bend there will certainly be a deer sitting there.

I can't see what your complaint to the Transport Minister could possibly be - in what way were you deceived?

Why do you ignore other road signs?

The signs have to be in place before they can use a mobile speed camera on the road. Can't see the problem myself.

you don't have to have consumed money before you can complain..if you think its wrong..and misleading..you can complain to prevent others of falling into that trap!
consumer of the speed camera..hope we don't pay for them in anyway such as road tax or hidden government stealth tax and pay for installing them and then get caught by them and pay more money in a fine after it..

There is no deceit of people that are obeying speed limits, as it did not trick them into slowing down against their wishes.

It is illegal to speed in cars, but unfortunately there are some anti-social elements who don't think that rules or enforcement should apply to them. Perhaps these are the ones that taxpayers should actually be up in arms about - why pay extra to sponsor the delinquents?

You personally dont have to have lost money to complain but the advert must result in the possibility of a consumer losing money as a result of the advert... I cannot see how you would lose money because or a speed camera sign which doesnt have a speed camera or how you would consider your a consumer of them.

Only more money to the government if people continue to break the law and speed (and yes I am one of those people too)

The purpose of the warning triangles is that there is a risk of deer being in the road... the same with speedcamera signs... there is a risk of a speed camera being on the stretch of road ahead
