Morning all. I d like to buy a new netbook as my acer aspire one is very slow. I ve been looking at specs etc and think i need one with 1.66 ghz processor and 1gb of ram. As i dont know much about these things i was hoping one of you clever people on here could advise me as to what might be what i need as its a mine field out there with numerous makes, specs and prices etc. Thank you:)

Cant help a lot but i know that the Samsung seem to have some of the best battery life if that is important to you.
I would get one with 2gb memory personally
Would like one myself need to do the researcch and then leave a note for Santa:rotfl:0 -
Just a thought but have you considered it might be the battery which needs to be replaced. I have an Acer Aspire Netbook and have noticed that it's a lot slower now that I'm getting less battery time before it needs charging again. Had to re-read the Acer instructions to remind myself that I will, eventually, need to replace the battery
My Acer is 1.60 GHz and 0.98 GB of RAM and until battery started to drain more quickly, the speed was fine for my purposes.

The thing about netbooks is that the screen is very small...0

Better hurry and get one, because consumers have caught onto the fact that just about their only advantages are that they are fairly small and comparatively light. All other characteristics are negative...0 -
backup your data, and reinstall windows, and it will be as fast as it was new.
if removing the battery speeds things up noticeably, disabling the microsoft acpi compliant battery device will cure it.!!

Look for one with a nVidia ION chipset. A 1.66GHz CPU one on Intel chipset won't be much faster than the 1.6GHz one.0

Clean install solves many problems. You don't need a new Netbook.0
