Seconded.
Or have you just got a pre-Xmas 'urge to spend'?0 -
Thirded! Acer Aspire Ones run at 1.60GHz anyway, so you'd have very little to gain by upgrading. They come with 512MB RAM, but you can upgrade that to 1.0 or 1.5GB yourself.0

If she's looking to buy a new Netbook because the old one is slow, she won't be taking it apart in order to replace the RAM module.
Though agreed. Moving up to 1GB RAM will bring the Netbook up to current specification other than in battery life.
Clean install. All done.0 -

How do you work that out? Anyway, with a bit of luck it will be a simple case of removing a panel and slotting in some RAM... like putting an SD card in a camera (except the panel will be screwed down).
Apparently the earliest versions of the Aspire One didn't have the panel, so you do need to work a bit harder to access the RAM. There's a video guide on YouTube showing you how to do this if you have the old version and want to give it a go. Still pretty easy if you follow the directions.
But at least the OP has two options - more RAM or reinstall the OS. Doing both would result in the netbook being (roughly) equally as fast as a brand new replacement.0 -

If, as you suggested, it has 512MB RAM, then it is one of the early versions that require you to take the whole machine apart in order to replace the RAM.
If she was going to chuck it anyway, then she can have a go at it if she thinks she's hard enough. :eek:0
