Painting/covering copper pipes?

Hi,

Have just had a lovely new chrome heated towel rad installed, but the copper pipes feeding into the bottom of the rad look odd, I just wondered if it would be OK to paint these silver? Can anyone recommend either a paint to do this, or whether there is a covering I could use?

The pipes aren't straight, they sort of bend inwards & upwards into the rad, approx 12" long

Thanks

    Chrome radsnaps.

If I'd been doing it I'd have used chrome plated pipe.:D

You can buy a silver coloured pipe cover designed for this purpose in diy stores, it's only a thin plastic so easy to cut and fit round.

Hammerite paint springs to mind, sold in many colours, can be bought in any diy store.

Not too sure about it's heat resistance?

I was thinking the same thing, just not sure if it would start to peel off with the heat.

You'll need to be asking for "radsnaps".

  • if they are bendy radsnaps do not work. The pipe needs to be straight for these to actually look decent

If your worried about heat, get some high temperature paint from car specialist shops or motorcycle shops for spraying exhaust pipes...these get much much hoter than central heating pipes.

I fitted some rad snaps to a towel rail that I installed recently. The plastic "chrome" was so thin that it was just like foil. The slightest touch of a finger nail or a cutting tool tended to dislodge it. You need to be extremely careful while fitting it.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

Yeah, i did look at these in wilkinsons, but, won't fit as the pipes I am looking to cover aren't straight.

Will look at the car paint idea above

    Thanks all
