My stuff is not selling!!!!

On Thursday I listed 21 things, some books, pc games, some fog lamps, a burberry scarf, some clothes and some records.
None of it is selling. I listed with under a pound start and the postage and packing is at cost and very low. I have one person watching one record and 2 watching the scarf.
I keep hearing about people making ££££'s, can anyone suggest where I am going wrong. My ID on Ebay is cheeky_teddy if you want to see what I have done. Any tips gratefully received.

Firstly, it is always worth checking on completed sales to see if the books particularly are worth selling. Paperback novels are notoriously difficult to sell, and almost impossible if you don't take paypal.
I can see that with the low prices of the items you are selling that you might not want to take paypal, but as a buyer I wouldn't even have seen your items as I only browse categories using the option 'buyer takes paypal'.
As wella s checking your books on the completed listings it might be worth looking at the pC games as well as they are quite old, and whilst some might be 'collectable' some will just be obsolete.
One last thought, with such low priced items I'm not sure I would have spent another 15p on a gallery pic, but then that's just me.

Some people do not bid until near the end of an auction, have you put on a 7 day listing cause there is still time yet. Last week was a slow week for me and only 3 items out of 8 sold.0

Can't see anything obvious wrong with the listings. I think it's a funny time of year... people aren't buying second hand so much as they are thinking about buying new for Christmas presents. My TV is broken!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
The picture gallery is something I always look for. I never look at anything if the pic is not in the gallery. But you are right, I would not bother again. I used to have Paypal but it was soooo much trouble that I don't bother. Now they want to revalidate my account for some reason so I have not answered them.
Thank you for your input. It all helps for next time.

No paypal no impulse buys in my book. Put yourself in the buyers shoes.."Can I be bothered writing a cheque, posting it and waiting". Paypal now have micropayments I believe that are cheaper.0

definatly for me paypal makes a big difference usually i find u can get items cheaper from sellers that dont accept paypal, but the hassle of a cheque i usually cant be bothered with - Gallery i dont on cheap items - clothes i think it makes a difference not so sure about other items

Lousie, Id agree, if there isnt a gallery pic then I would almost certainly not be drawn to the listing. I last bought something and paid by cheque in 2002.....hence no paypal no purchase. Also, you listed on one of the cheap listing days. They are a mixed blessing. Cheaper to list but the site becomes flooded so its harder for people to find your items. Put these three factors together and you may go some way to explaining any lack of interest.
Hope this helps.

Yep you need to open up as many ways to pay as possible. There are ebayers who only pay by check and some who only pay by paypal so you need to have all those covered. I've started selling more since I've been putting a picture in the gallery for 15p per listing more. I think it's worth that extra money. I also don't list things on the 5p and 10p listing days as everyone else lists all their slow to sell stuff then and there is so much on there it's saturated.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

My eBay and Amazon sales have dropped considerably since the news of an interest rate rise in November. I think everyone is tightening their belts ready for when their mortgages cost more. Or... could it be there's going to be a mad Christmas rush? You could try listing next month...
I agree about the last minute bidding thing... I was watching an item that went from £98 to £160 in the last hour!Don't blame me, it was like that when I got here!0 -
Sorry to buck the trend - but I'm doing great!
Never sold so many items. I am able to put my prices up because the items are selling even at the slightly higher price. I did buy alot of stock to sell in the last couple of months ... so it is a good job it's selling!
However - my stuff is brand new and I use BIN 95% of the time ...0
