World of Warcraft - ideal xmas pressie?

My son is addicted to this game and has already ordered the expansion pack. I sometimes ban him from it for 3-4 days and he always thanks me!! He does not go out much as he plays on line with his friends from school but they seem to chat a lot as well as play the game and he is always laughing and having fun on it. As his exams come up next year we have already discussed that he will be allowed limited time on it so that he can revise properly. He comes off it at meal times, I insist we eat as a family and he has to switch it off 1/2 an hour before bed for some down time. I think he is on it too much but I am just glad that at 15 he is not out on the streets, I know where he is and I know he is not in trouble. If his room gets too messy I take away his keyboard and mouse....nothing works better to get him to do his room LOL.0

I'd say that Guild Wars Nightfall would make a better gift, it's currently on Preorder at Amazon for £17.99 (released on Friday), and you get the preorder pack for free. There's no monthly fee for playing, so the receiver doesn't incur extra costs for the gift.

WOW is fantastic and for all you worries parents out there you can actually set up parental controls on what times your child can play, just make sure you set up the account for them0

They do a £1.50 14 day trial in Game (and it IS only as trial, not the full game but worth it all the same).
Bought my brother it today as i'm going to get him WoW and a subscription for xmas but wanted to make sure he liked it first. He's addicted to Runescape and wanted to try somthing different.Lurker extraordinaire :cool:0 -
Wendy, he'll love it. My son loved runescape until his account was hacked, cue heartbroken child who'd spent a long time building it up.
he's now happily addicted to WoW.When it comes to thought, some people stop at nothing.........0 -

I guess this comes down to personal taste, but for me GW just didnt do it.
WoW on the other hand did it for me big time, there's a game thats made well, runs well and plays well.... 5million subscribers worldwide can't be wrong! There's no other game of the type that comes anywhere near that for subscribers."The reasonable man adapts to the world,
The unreasonable man adapts the world to himself,
Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man."0 -
