Help please! reviews and reassessments

Just been reading that someone had their case reassessed, has anyone had this done and what does this mean?
Also a review, i'm guessing that this is a periodical thing-when they look at your circumstances again, ie- your income, children, circumstances etc. I think they do this every couple of years or so anyway, am i right?
I'm hoping that they don't go back to years ago & go through everything again, if/when they do either of these- because i can't remember half of what happened 10 years ago & am terrified OH will be ripped off once more.
They haven't said they're doing this, but then they might not tell us, and in this case how would we know?
Do they just decide to do either of these, or does the PWC or NRP have to request that they do so?
I hope someone replies soon, or else i won't sleep tonight...yet again

Reassessments aren't done as a matter of course.
At any time a PWC or NRP can ask for a reassessment and it would be for the circimstances at that time - not for anything in the past.
For example an NRP may get a wage drop so will ask for a reassessment or a PWC may have been having the same CS for a number of months and may ask the CSA to reasses to make sure they are getting what they are entitled to.
EDIT - your husband will know as he would get a letter saying they are checking the circumstances (something along those lines) and asked for wage info etc0 -
DH has had a CoC and a re-calculation a few months ago.
I read on here that some poor guy suffered them going back years and they went to the inland revenue (HMRC) and took that info & then whooped him for a massive amount of arrears, (this was a clerical case).
Really worrying me, as my DHs case is also clerical.
from what you say they don't just decide to do either, but i don't understand the difference between and review and a reassessment- do you?
I'm truly in nervous breakdown territory having read about this poor guy and his family0 -
Reassements are what I explained.
Reviews would be carried out if the CSA suspected something amiss (as in the case you stated - clearly the person should have been paying a higher amount). These are not the norm.
Seriously Lynn, you need to calm down to a panic as you are going to make yourself ill. People come on here not with good news, but with tales of woe.
Some are run of the mill ('he won't pay' 'she's denying she got money') and advice can be doled out and some are more complex.
But there are million of CSA cases and for every crap one, there is a smoothly going one. You can't change the future so just pay what you are being asked and on time and there shouldn't be any issue.
If something comes up in the future then you deal with it then. Worrying about it now isn't going to help.0 -
Really worrying me, as my DHs case is also clerical.
Clerical only means that things have to be manually done as opposed to the computer doing them automatically - and this can be for a thousand million trillion reasons.
Mine was clerical as someone put the date as 2009 when it should have been 2010!!
Took from Jan to Sept to resolve and now it appears (tho I have not asked) that I am ahh...'normal' as my payments get sent to me automatically within 2 days as oppose to me having to phone to remind them to send me them and then them taking 3, yes 3, weeks to get to me!0 -
thankyou
I guess i worry because i have had to deal with it on my own, and I don't have much, if any knowledge or experience with the csa. Also I've felt embarrassed about the pickle DH has landed himself in with regard to the arrears that he owed, & because of this i haven't been able to talk to any friends or family, it's really affected me.
My DHs a bury his head in the sand type of guy, some might say he's easy come easy go, but he isn't, he just chooses not to think about things0 -

I'm sure it has and I'm not being mean I promise - just realistic.
I know the CSA can be a bit of a 'mare but there is really no point worrying about what may or may not happen is there?! you'll end up rocking in a corner mumbling to yourself!!
With regards to the OH....he's like alot of men I suspect (certainly going by the amount of threads that start 'my bf/oh has had a letter and....!!).
Look, you have paid hubby arrears. You are paying the amount they are asking on time and with no quibble. So far there is no issue. Should a reassessment be requested by PWC then you will know and then you can pay what the new schedule asks.
If and it's a mighty IF, any problems crop up meantime then you know you can ask. And you will get help.
Reading the horror stories on here isn't going to help and I would urge you to stop and to move forward from this.0 -
TBH, apart from having real problems being promised that someone would call back, and then waiting for the call(s) that never came, they've been alright. I managed to speak to a lady who was ok- she did do her best to sort it out and check and confirm the amount. DH received a letter from her today with the new schedule.0

It should be fine then. Normally, the reason that arrears are backdated is because a PwC has asked for a reassessment some time ago and the CSA haven't actioned it. So when they get to the reassessment, they have to backdate it to the original date which isn't the NrPs fault, no (some may argue, however, the NRP should have notified the CSA of a change of circumstances themselves though).
So in your case, if they've done the reassessment smoothly and he's received the new schedule, it sounds like it has been sorted with no problems.August GC 10th - 10th : £200 / £70.61
