Is it all you mail that gets opened or just stuff from banks?
If it is just financial stuff you may try having it delivered to home and then ask your parents to not open it and stick it in a plain brown envelope and address it and send it to you.
Does someone else have the same name as you that is opening your post? If so get the senders to change the address details so it is personal to you.0 -

I have noticed some of my credit card statements get opened(which is a worry). Only because you can clearly see the company name on the top right, this is unlike my hsbc statements where its just a plain white letter with private written on it.Cypher wrote:Have you tried speaking to your Banks / Credit Card companies etc and explaining that your in Halls and you mail frequently goes missing, they may have a solution for you and you never know they may except the PO Box option.
Yes but they will not listen as they say its not secure enough, which i dont understand because its just kept in a box till i collect it with my ID rather than being posted in a box in my accom where anyone can get their mits on it.0 -

I agree, it would be more secure than your current arrangements

when all is said and done, how often are you really going to go to the PO box to pick up your mail once the novelty of it has worn off? not much more frequently than you would go home probably.
if parents opening your private mail is a concern (which again is illegal) is there another relative's address you could use?know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -

My parents open my mail even though it has private and my name written on the letter inc my bank statements. I have told them many a time not to but they say as I live under the same roof. blah blah blah"He's a maniac, maniac that's for sure,
He will kill your cat and nail him to the door"

I would be very upset if my parents opened my mail, especially if it was a bank statement/visa bill or similar. They have no business doing so regardless of where I live!
I have a similar arrangement at uni where my mail goes to a pigeon hole and anyone could stick their grubby mits in and pull it out. I have often had other people's mail in my pigeon hole (which I always put in the correct place immediately) but I don't know if everyone else is as honest!
