Orange - non-direct-debit charge?
HI, i wonder if anyone has any experience of this. I have just purchased a new phone through Orange, switching to a contract. Because i will invoice my employer for soem calls i do not wish to pay by direct debit.
Whe i came to activate phone i was told i would be charged £3.50/mon for the privilege. A full 10% of the bill! I was not told this when i bought the phone. Does anyone have any experience of persuading Orange to waive this fee?
Thank you in advance.

answer is no im affraid. as its on the T&C that you agreed to.. If they had told you that you would not be charged that would be diffrent.0

Thanks for your reply.
Well - they didnt tell me i would be charged, the only terms i agreed to were verbal ones the guy read out over the phone, which didnt include this. I havent signed anything as a credit agreement for the contract etc.
Having read the T&Cs, it says that normal Orange terms supersede the ones for the particular plan if there is a conflict. This is really a conflict of ommission rather than an explicit conflict. And online the purchase process requires you to check the box to say you have read the general T&Cs, not the plan-specific ones.
I woudl just hope Orange would prefer to keep my business on an 18-month contract, than me go elsewhere while telling them where to put their phone and overpriced admin charges.0 -
If anyone needs info for this in future - i have just spoken to Orange Sales Dept., who have assured me that if the bill is paid at an Orange shop each month, then the non-direct-debit fee is waived!0

^was just about to say that
just make sure u take in the 2nd page of your bill with you where it actually says the charge or u might find they wont give u the refundYes Your Dukeiness0 -
ditto. i'm just finishing a 12 month contract and every month I get billed an extra £3.50. Therefore every month i have to go instore and pay to get this charge taken off. Definatly worth it (saing £42) if a little hassle.
Did phone up orange about paying over the phone and taking that charge off but they said it couldnt be done, although if i'd perseveried then who knows...0
