I would be interested to see whether you get your hamper, the chances without attending a presentation are nil I suspect. The address is Bournemouth is notorious and the website is clearly a version of an American website. Avoid like the plague

I had my first holiday win yesterday:j. I had a phonecall saying ihad won 2!!! holidays, one in Thailand and another in florida:T:T such luck. Dont know if it was timeshare or a scam because i put the phone down before she got that far:D:D

I have just had the same call as the first poster from 01202 468124 Hotweeks. My partner and I are invited to go along to Southampton to pick up our New Year hamper and get details of our free holiday win. This comes from a survey I filled out last year...... Oh and no, this is not a timeshare! ....And pigs will fly!!!!!

I googled the number and name and look what I found:-

I have found a wonderful way of getting rid of these people - when they ask if you own your own house just say no, you are renting cos you are currently unemployed, and how lovely it is to win a holiday cos you haven't been able to afford one for years. Funny, the line went rather quiet and she had to dash off to help a colleague!

I had the exact same conversation this evening as captain mainwaring ( original post) apparently I completed a questionnaire and have been selected as one of 25 winners of a complimentary holiday. I too had a call back about two hours later saying they couldn't read the other callers handwriting and wanted to confirm the post code. Can't believe I fell for it. Thank goodness for the MSE posts.

Steer well clear i had an appointment booked then thought i would google them, i was also called back asking for postcode and when i called to cancel the apointment they said they needed the first line of my address to cancel it as they had several people booked under that name Really!!!! when i refused and said i wanted no further contact from me she hung up, funny that!! dont think ill be getting my hamper eh!

Really guys, I can't believe what I am reading here.

I have proudly worked for 3 different companies that have a massively successful timeshare operation and Hundreds of Thousands of very happy members.

I have worked for Sheraton, Marriott and Butlins Blueskies, I loved every minute of it and will probably even go back to it.

Most people do not even realise that Disney, Marriott, Sheraton, Hilton, Ritz Carlton, Hyatt etc.. all sell timeshare memberships in their Thousands.

IF it was such a terrible thing to enter into why on earth would companies like these risk their good name to sell these memberships.

For some people timeshare does work. If you holiday once or twice a year and your paying good money to do so then chances are your paying too much, there is a HUGE mark up on holidays, for people like this, it makes sense.

I could rant on for ages why timeshare might work for you or might not but I won't here.

Thing is, the industry has cleaned up massively since the so called crimeshare days of the 80's where, as usual it was only a few spoiling for the many. There are laws in place to protect people now and they have very recently got even tighter.

As far as winning a holiday, hamper or anything else, this is standard practise to award you for your time going to have a look at it. You wouldn't go in for nothing would you? All the famous companies do this and it should not be looked at suspiciously necessarily.

If after the presentation, you don't like it or realise you cannot afford it, say NO, it's as easy as that. What on earth can happen to you? As for your house being burgled why you are away, my God, Really !!!!! This is just ridicules, they are more interested in you buying more or your referrals I can assure you.

Marketing might try anything to get you into the presentation as they would be on some sort of commission but once you are there the presentations are normally informal, informative and consultative affairs that are very insightful.

I don't work for this company by the way but just wanted to put my pennies worth in as it hurts me to see people shunning the industry without giving it some thought. It should be the travel agents that you shun, how much do you think, shops, tv ads, leaflets etc.. cost? The mark up these guys make from you is huge, THIS is why timeshare and related products work for many people because the savings to be had are obvious.
