Hot Weeks

Hello everyone. I had a phone call this evening telling me that I had won a free holiday and a Christmas hamper. Very nice! Now, is this true or not? You decide. I have to collect the prize and listen to a presentation lasting about 2 hours in Southampton. The company, Hot Weeks told me that this was NOT a time share company and that the prize was genuine and would be presented to me, and my wife next week. Yippee I thinks. until I check out their website, have a look and tell me what you think: sorry, can't post a link but if you Google 'Hot Weeks' it's the first one that shows up.
I received another call about half an hour later asking to verify my post code as the first caller's writing was unreadable, fair enough. Then I was asked about my income. Did our joint income amount to £20k per year. Why would they want to know this? Sounds fishy to me. What do you reckon? All replies welcome. (I know, I know, there's no such thing as a free lunch! Well holiday anyway, lol)
Always looking for a bargain :j

Not timeshare......and my brother is Father Christmas.....It will be timeshare under one name or another thats for sure. The choice is yours but as you say there is no such thing as a free lunch, why do they want to know your joint income?/ if it is a free holiday your earninngs have nothing to do with it. OK you may get a holiday out of it but as sure as apples are apples you will get the "hard sell" I would not touch it with a barge pole but that is just me others may have another point of view

I am sure they are not a time share, cos they said so. and they ALWAYS tell the truth.

The free holiday will cost admin fees and the free hamper will cost you postage.

Dont waste two hours of your life, stay at home and watch the paint dry. it will be more rewarding and more interesting.

  • I would stay well clear if I was you as I was scamed by a spanish advertising company, although I never paid them a penny, I dont trust anyone anymore and would rather just pay for a holiday !!!!
  • Hi,

I had a similar call about a month ago. I decided not to attend; given that there are so many holidays up for grabs I would be rather suspicious about this.....

Another thing they were asking me was to confirm that I spend at least £1,500 on my annual holidays!!

I'll let you make up your own mind.

If they say it's not timeshare they are either:

    a lying outright

b technically not lying but selling something Joe in the street would regard as timeshare eg holiday points or a holiday 'club'

They want to know your earnings so that they know you earn enough to be eligible for the loan they will foist on you when you say you can't afford what they are selling.

They want you both there so they can play one of you off against the other.
  • Hello everyone. I had a phone call this evening telling me that I had won a free holiday and a Christmas hamper. ...

Did you actually enter this competition then?

I bet a pound to a penny that you didn't!!*

My dopey missus was always falling for these scams.

She finally twigged when I gave her a tenner and told her to go out into the street and give it to the first stranger she met.

" Why would I do that ? " she asked, just as a light-bulb came on above her head.

It would largely depend on where the "free holiday" is, right? ;)
