#1 - If I'd opened them the day I'd bought them and made that discovery, yes, I would have taken them back. As it's now a few days later, a few factors could have contributed to the smell/discolouration: ie: how they were transported home/how long between leaving their fridge and getting into mine. Another factor which may be out of Mr T's control is the temperature of your own fridge.
#2 - If I had found poor smelling/discoloured chicken, it would hit the bin - even the one's in the same tray could have been infected by bacteria. With chicken (and as most of it is mass farmed) I wouldn't have taken the risk.
#3 - see #2 above.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I would have taken them all back to Tescos today, too late now I know, but do contact them and complain.
I had the same with an Asda turkey drumstick which I opened the day before the use by date, it stank and was all slimy  so I threw it away then emailed Asda. A week later they sent me a £4 gift card and humble apologies which wasn't bad considering it cost £1.07.
I don't think you should eat the slow cooked ones, be on the safe side and throw them out!
An old saying which has always helped me at times like this "If in doubt, throw it out!"0 -
On a purely personal note - I wouldn't have used the others. To my mind, whatever got at the ones that stank would also be affecting the ones that didn't even if you couldn't see it.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. I had a chicken via home delivery, I went to use it a day before the useby date and that stank. Emailed customer services about it but they said the dates on there are for guidance and are an instore date rather than you taking it home and keeping it in the fridge. Was not happy as it sodes not state this on the packaging. This was before my OS ways now I would take taht further, then I just filled in the form with all the info requested and never heard anything from them.
Personally, would be straight in the bin for the whole lot - not worth risking it!!0 -
Sorry, but I echo the rest "bin it". It is not worth the risk.GC - March 2024 -0

Well I had a pack of chicken legs & pieces from Tesco, used a couple of the legs but didn't like the look of the rest. They were still in date so I took the rest of the pack back to Tesco and got all my money back.
If the pack stinks they are not going to care if some are missing, you can say you tried to cook some but they came out stringy/dry (must admit the legs I cooked were not the best, but we were not ill!).
So I would take them back, and pick up some free Sour Cream & Onion Pringles via their R&R policy while you are there (see misprices thread, I have had 20 tubs so far).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

must admit I've had a few bad experiences with Tescos chicken & will never buy another chicken breast from there again. For some reason they always seem to be rubbery.0
