Disconnecting BT and BB.

Hi,
I would be stopping BT (l/line) in the new year. Not having l/line would also end my BB.
Orange mobile contract is ending at the end of the year and so is their free BB offer.
I've got half price t-mobile offer with 3GB data( can be used with usb modem). Speeds where I live is decent. I would get rid of BB and l/line altogather.
My question is:-
Would I be levied any exit charges for the BB? All BT needs is a 14 days notice only (confirmed with BT).
Thanks
Spark

Believe it's £25 for disconnecting e.g. ending service without migrating to another supplier with a MAC code.0

Well, why should it be that you pay to connect and disconnect?
Also, would it be BT or BB who levies cease charge? Was this post useful to you? Feel free to click the thanks button--¬ :beer:0 -

It's BT Openreach who do the work on behalf of BT.They charge BT for the physical disconnection that is done in the exchange & BT pass the charge onto the customer,ie,you.
BT Openreach also do all the work required by the BB ISP's.0 -
As Horrange are your BB supplier they will have a cease charge buried in their t & cs somewhere0

You don't pay to connect broadband- only some ISP's do levy their own connection charge. The disconnection charge is an Openreach charge to the ISP that has been made since 2008--you ISP is simply recharging it.
If you migrate by using a MAC, no cease charge applies. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Got cease charges from orange.Disconnection without MAC code is £29.07 (incl. VAT)
But, my query is if I stop my l/line, do it still need to pay cease charges for BB? BB should stop automatically as there is no copper to carry the BB.

Does asking for a MAC (even if you never pass it on to another ISP for use) overcome the problem?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

No,because if the MAC is not used the account will continue as normal - you will get charged for BB once Horrange mobile contract has finished; IMHO would suggest the cheaper option is to cancel BB and accept the cease charge !0

But still the query stands that I am stopping my l/line. Without l/line, how can BB cease charges would still be valid?brewerdave wrote: »IMHO would suggest the cheaper option is to cancel BB and accept the cease charge !Was this post useful to you? Feel free to click the thanks button--¬ :beer:0 -
Because when they cease your phone line someone at the exchange will also disconnect you physically from your BB connection - this then frees up the space for another customer to be connected.:(spark_deals wrote: »But still the query stands that I am stopping my l/line.
