I think I may have been overcharged by United utilities but i am not sure.
Just had a bill for 6 months at £182. Seems fairly high to me.
Two of us living in a one bedroom flat, both shower once a day, do 3 loads of washing a week maybe, wash dishes every evening by hand. We have no dishwasher and no bath.
The usage is 51 cubic metres. Does anyone think thats high?
Can i complain or get my meter checked? (ours is a house split into 2 flats and i'm worried they may have included the upstairs flat too!)
What do you guys think?0 -
Are both flats metered? Transposed meter numbers? Have you checked the actual meter?No free lunch, and no free laptop

I have no idea. How do I check? :doh:
I dont even know where the meter is.
The bill i received has a recent meter reading on it0 -
So how do you verify your bills if you don't check them against the meter? ? Near your mains stopc*ck or mains suppy entry if inside the building, or under a little hatch on the pavement if outside.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Well, just moved in 6 months ago so this is my first water bill since living here.
I'll ask the boyf when he gets home if he knows where the meter is, must be outside i'm guessing0 -

51 cubic metres is slightly below average consumption for a couple for a six month period.
If you insist in having it checked it will probably cost you, with the fee refunded if found faulty.
You can check the meter yourself by noting the red numbers and running off a measured amount - say 20 litres and see if the last red digit in this type of meter has moved 2 places.

As you say Hank, the water charges in the S. West are truly outrageous, legalised theft in my opinion. As I mentioned before, think yourself luck with your charges, I paid last month £140 for one quarter, DISGUSTING
Try the North West £770 a year. Im thinking of leaving a tap on 24 hours a day to get my monies worth.

Why on earth would you not get a meter at that rate..Guessing that it is RV charged ??There is a race of men that don't fit in; A race that can't stand still;
