Applying For An ISA

I have used up my ISA alowance for this financial yr and will now have to wait until 6th April 2007 for a new one, when though should you or when can you start to apply for a new ISA?

    Money is much more exciting than anything it buys.
  • You can apply for a new ISA at any time of year you want and transfer your current ISA to the new one. (MAke sure you transfer the ISA, DON'T close your current one and then open a new one). You can't add any more money to any ISA - even if you move - until next tax year i.e. April 2007.
  • Be prepared to lose a days interest the year after though, April 6th 2008 falls on a Sunday. The last time that this happened, I asked the I.S.A. provider if I could deposit £3k in a Mickey Mouse a/c. on the 5th and by the magic of modern technology, have it transferred to an I.S.A. the following day. "Computer says no", was the reply.
