BT throttling & blocking ports

I have tried various ways to get hold of someone with common sense at BT, I have had numerous phone conversations with BT India (all Fruitless! bring back good old Blighty phone support!)
If the BT rep could answer this or point me in the direction of someone that could help that would be brilliant!
In my house the internet is used for daily browsing,Ebay, Banking online, but it is also used for online games.
The problem being on one particualr online Game Star Trek online, the game server connection gets refused and blocked on a daily basis, I have had several support tickets with the Game vendor and they have tested all they can from their end, and the answer is my ISP is either throttling the connection or they are blocking specific ports.
I work in a Networking background so have a better understanding of issues like these, and all my tests point towards ports being blocked.
This is the support ticket response below:-
CUSTOMER SERVICE RESPONSES:
Greetings and thank you for contacting Star Trek Online Customer Support.
This is an issue that necessitates communication with your Internet Service Provider, we will be unable to resolve your issue from our end.
You will have to contact your ISP and inform them that you need a new route for your DNS.
Sincerely,
GM Tobruk
Now I have tried contacting BT, I have posted on their support forum last week (still no answer)

Do not waste your time with BT - order your MAC Code and move to BeUnlimited - they will physically talk you through over the phone about which port you want opened up and tell you how to do it.
They do not throttle or shape and are truly unlimited.
Technical Support answer in under a minute and despite the fact that they are in Eastern Europe their English is excellent and far better then any other ISP I have used.0 -
