i would ignore him, if it was meant to be returned ebay would have told you to do this. Courtesy works both ways, he didn't show any to you by selling used goods as new, as you say give it to a charity - at least that way someone may benefit.
  • Thanks for your message pug_in_a_bed, I have contacted ebay regarding this and I was told that they recouped money from the seller.

hmmm weird, technically then they should have asked you to return, tracked, which then triggers a refund once you show it has been delivered.

I would be inclined to only do as ebay says, not the seller however.

Even if I try to be nice to him and send the item to him on his own expense, I might have to take the postage from him. I dont want to deal with this dishonest person anyway, whatsoever. I have told him he can arrange the pickup. This leaves me with a thought, why do people show dishonesty for a few pounds.

I reckon they figure that many buyers won't bother returning for a small sum of money, so they're always quids in.
I ave a dodgy H, so sometimes I will sound dead common, on occasion dead stupid and rarely, pig ignorant. Sometimes I may be these things, but I will always blame it on my dodgy H.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a grumble weed today, no offence intended ... well it might be, but I'll be sorry.
  • Perhaps reply that you have not been instructed to return the item by ebay, and advise them to contact ebay themselves. And then ignore their messages untill/if you hear anything from ebay.
  • I got the very same problem.. spoken to ebay and paypal about the 2 packages I have from rude sellers whom decided to send me faulty and used item instead of "Brand" new. Anyhow, they (ebay + paypal) both said its up to me what I wish to do with the items. Given both sellers 30 days to collect at their own expense.. doubt they will though.

Then off they go for sale on eBay for charity.

  • Personally I would ask them to send you the postage and send the item back. Why sink to their level?
If folks treated others like they'd want to be treated then the world would be a better place (you'll have the satisfaction of being a better person than the seller).
Then there's always karma, lol :A

The problem is if you've had to go to dispute about this nine times out of ten seller has probably refused to do the decent thing anyway. Usually situations can be resolved with good sellers - including return postage - but if the seller was being stroppy about a dispute in the first place, agreeing to that is probably beyond them :(.

The karma is usually on the seller's side.

Thanks for your reply Saphira, it is interesting to know somebody somewhere goes through exactly the same situation but it is a shame you had to deal with more than one rogue sellers. I know how it feels, it is good to know that you got it in your favour at the end.

All the best everybody and thanks every one once again for the valuable advice and moral support.
