£70 penalty by EURO CAR PARKS, JUST FOR WALKING AWAY FROM THE CAR.

Walking away from your car gets £70 penalty.
I applied for a job at local TOYS SHOP. They wanted to see my birth certificate and NI number copies. I parked my car near the shop, in the retail car park and walked across the road to photo copy my docs. I was back in about 15 minutes to find a penalty ticket on my car for £70. This was from Euro Car Parks. The reason on the ticket states "left car park on foot". This is day light robbery. The time on the ticket is from BLANK to 13.48. I was parked just for half an hour. How can I be charged £70 for this. Please advise whether I have to pay such ridiculous charges. Is it really illegal to walk away from your car park, for a few minutes? Thanks and warm regards.

Don't pay, ignore all letters, ignore all posters here who tell you otherwise. Don't appeal, they will make more and more outlandish (but empty) threats but can do sweet fanny adams about it.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Ignore Euro and their empty threats. You owe them nothing. See this thread for the letters you will be ignoring.0

Indeed, follow the rest of us ignoring one ppc or another...

It's a scam. They can give out fake tickets (actually invoices) to anyone they want.
Completely unenforceable though. You'll just get some threatening computer generated junkmail from Euro and their phoney debt collectors 'Control Account' before they give up.
Simply ignore and relax0 -
Euro admitted in the Sunday Times a fortnight ago that they have NEVER taken anyone to court, and they have no plans in future of doing so, the reason why is quite simple, they would never win .Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
I am thinking of sending the following e-mail to ecp. Please advise if this is ok. Thanks.
Hi
I went to my local shopping centre to see the manager of TOY SHOP, as I had applied for a job there. They wanted to see copies of my docs. I therefore parked my car at the shop and walked across the road to get my copies done. I was back in 15 minutes to find your over enthusiastic attendant had slapped a penalty ticket on my car!!!! I was there on a legitimate business and not stayed over time or anything like that. I left after approximately 40 minutes. I am therefore not liable to pay. Please ensure that you cancel this ticket as you have no legal grounds to charge like that. I have contacted my MP and solicitors and have been advised to point out this error, on your side. Any further demands from you will be treated as harassment and a counter charge will be made against your firm for the same and may cost you dearly. Please confirm urgently that this erroneous ticket is cancelled.
Thank you

Why are you even considering even writing to them? Let me save you the price of a stamp, this is the reply you will get:
And reveiwing all the facts, we have concluded that the ticket was issued correctly, therefore your appeal has been turned down!
Now what part of ignore totally, they have NEVER ever ever ever ever taken anyone to court, and they will NEVER ever ever ever ever take anyone to court in the future you don't understand ?
Its your money obviously, but please understand you don't owe them anything at all, you are just encouraging them by writing an appeal, and you are confirming that you are the driver, something they don't know just yet, and you have no legal obligation to tell them!Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?

Don't even think about writing to them, you don't have to answer to them! In fact by writing to them you are admitting who was driving, giving them evidence they do not currently have (not that Euro EVER do Court - they never do - but why volunteer info to help them).
Like all PPCs they are just scammers after your money, there will be no mitigating circumstances they will consider even though they pretend to have an 'appeals process'. Have a think about what their answer will be, effectively to them it's like you are asking not to pay towards their Christmas jolly...?
What you can do is write a complaint to the Toy Shop about the over-zealous parking company (whether you get the job or not). The more complaints that retailers get about their parking parasites the better, we hope that PPCs will be kicked out of many retail sites as possible, and complaints to Store Managers is the way to achieve that.
As for Euro, check out the 'PPC letters & scams, what to expect' thread for pictures of the letters which will be sent to the Registered Keeper by Euro and their pet debt collector, Control Account.
Just ignore them and that's it, this is nothing to get in a tizz about. I have been there, done that and have the letters here in my handbag to show for it. That was 18 months ago and they soon gave up.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
