No cashbacks switching tariffs on the same supplier. You would need to switch supplier to get that.

    Wrong!

I've had 3 lots of cashback for the 3 times that I've switched to the latest 'Sign Online' tariff. I've been with nPower uninterrupted for 6 years now. In fact, the first time I did it I got 2 lots of cashback, £30 from nPower for switching (via MoneySupermarket) and £20 from MoneySupermarket (via Quidco) ;-)

My latest switch was a couple of months ago (from Standard to Sign Online 19 - I was on Standard as my previous Sign Online 14 had ended and reverted back) and I got my £20 from MoneySupermarket via Quidco 'paid' a few days ago, so I'll get the cash at the start of next month.

I'll do the same in Oct '11 when Sign Online 19 expires...

I would just give it a go online - the worst that can happen is that it 'wont go through' but I can't see why not.

As I've always been on monthly direct debit dual fuel all they do is send me a new monthly direct debit figure so there's no faffing with clearing payments etc - it should all be taken into account when they calculate your new direct debit.

It takes a couple of weeks to go through, and you should receive a letter informing you of the start dates for the new tariff for each fuel (for some mad reason they're always different). Remember you have to manage the account online - I forgot and after about a year they sent me a letter reminding me.

It's worth doing it online as they now send you a free electricity monitor if you click on the button to request one. I've had mine for a couple of weeks and it's great. Fascinating to see how much my oven etc uses...and pleasing to see I just use 100w per hour during the day when I'm out (mainly the fridge freezer I guess).

After your switch date you will get a final bill based on your final reading.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
