I keep trying to bulk cook, BUT...

as soon as I do then OH comes and eats it all!!! ARGH! If I make lasagna he'll eat till he's fit to burst and there isn't enough left to freeze for me... MEN

ok ok so it must mean my lasagna is pretty good, but still ;) He really can be SO annoying at times :)

the only way arouond this is either to lock the kitchen door!!! or take out the amount you want to freeze and put it immediately in a freezer dish and out of his sight to cool before freezing!

Oh no, this happens to us all. I made mince last night at 11.30 when it was way too late for him to think about eating anything! Then froze it in two pots so that when I unfreeze it, he can only eat what he's allowed.

It's a toughie when I make leg of lamb, cos he tries to eat it all before I get to freeze it. He's gets annoyed that I'm trying to "ration" him, but I try to control it as much as I can!

Don't worry, it's not just you!

EDIT: Or leg of anything for that matter!

Well I've tried hiding but he knows the size of my oven dishes ;)

I'll just have to bulk cook whilst he's away (works away 2 nights a week in Kent) and freeze it then, but it's so annoying because I have the time at the weekends but NO chance of getting to freeze anything I cook at the weekend :D

Lasagna is just one of my fave dishes as I can so easily bulk it out with veg and I love the taste so I cook it a lot. OH also loves it hence it never lasts lol!

Leg of lamb or anything else never lasts long here either... certainly not long enough to freeze anything :S

There's your answer, cook when he's away. I sometimes use almost a whole Saturday bulk cooking.

Yesterday I spent an hour and a half chopping onions in a food processor just to go in the freezer. Had red hands by the end (only use red onions).

I make loads of stuff with mince (spag bol, hamburgers, chilli, plain ole mince and carrots etc.) and casserole steak (stews, goulash) during the day, freeze it (in portions appropriate for two of us) and tough tittie if he wants more! Then he's got to delve into his own pocket for crisps and the like!

When I make soup overnight in the slow cooker DH will polish off half of it at breakfast!

I once found him scoffing curry at 7a.m.!

I now ladle some soup or curry into a dish and hide it in the microwave.

My husband is exactly the same, but his speciality is to leave just enough to be no use to anyone, then look aggrieved when I challenge him, because he hasn't actually finished it all! Grrrr!

Best to do it when he's away, or if weekends is the only time you can do it, then just simply say you've taken on a new hobby and that your cooking for the homeless, and say "if you continue to eat what I cook for future" you'll be joining the homeless!!!!!!"
