Help! Re-direction problem when using search engines

Options
Hi
I have something on my computer. I don't know what it is but when I search for something on google or yahoo, it re-directs whatever I wanted it to go to to other things, including !!!!!!.

I have downloaded AVG, Trojan Remover and Hitman Pro and it never found whatever it is.

At first I thought it was a gomeo problem but it isn't going to gomeo anymore. I just don't know what to do anymore, please somebody help!

sounds like one of the more persistent little burgers I've come across in the last few months, Dr Web in Safe Mode finally cracked it.....

when you start dr web it will automatically start a quick scan. If it finds anything, delete it and run a full scan. Be warned, even a quick scan can take a couple of hours

  • Only time I've seen this before is when some malware put it's own proxy settings into the computer.

    Check your LAN settings.....

Go to control panel and select internet options, then the connection tab and click the 'LAN settings' button.

With most ISPs there shouldn't be anything in there but I've noticed that some malware puts a connection in there which would redirect any traffic through the proxy.

If there is a proxy there then try unchecking the proxy server box.

The LAN settings on mine is clear, nothing there.
  • Hmmm, there's a few things I can suggest but none of them are easy and could lose your internet connection so I won't put them here.

You say you've already posted a hijackthis log? Can you please put it here as well.

P.S. Have you tried Spybot S&D? Does the same job as Malwarebytes but you never know, could pick something up that mbam didn't.

Never ment to hijack, although I would have thought any advice given to me would surely help JenniO also seeing as we have the exact same problem.

And theres no need to shout my name.

JenniO - applogies for hijacking your thread, I hope you get your problem sorted out soon.
