Earlier this year i had a bad leg so went to the docs and was told it was probs arthritis and told to take ibuprofen. My condition did not improve infact it got worse so i went back and had an xray which confirmed mild arthritis in my hips. The gp then sent me to a specialist who said i would need my hip replacing (left hip) but i was too young yet and should go back to my gp for painkillers and he would see me in ten years for an op! The doc gave me paracetemol but after two weeks of bad pain i went back and got some naproxen. I also take co-codamol most days and have permanent pain. I walk with a permanent limp and cannot walk anywhere without pain. For that matter i am constantly in pain even with the drugs.I walk as little as possible due to this.
I applied for DLA and was refused so i appealed and was refused again ,I am now appealing again. I dont claim sickness benefit or anything else and dont think i am putting the correct things on the form.can anyone give me some advice as to what i should be doing?

Go and ask at your local Citizens Advice Bureau. They will have a Benefit Specialist who will help you with the form or appeal. That's what I did. I put things like "on the days I work I go to bed in the afternoon to rest" and she put "I go to bed to rest in the afternoons", I put " I often need help with putting on socks and shoes" and she put "I need help with lower half dressing". She also said that they ask the same question in different ways to see if you put consistent answers.
Did they ask for any reports from your GP or specialist? I spoke to my MS specialist nurse and told her about my application so she took detailed notes for her report and I'm sure that helped. Don't give up, see the CAB and get some help. When dancing with dragons, don't let your partner lead.0 -

you cant appeal an appeal(unless under a matter of law when the appeal then goes to the commissioners),if appeal fails you have to start a new claim.0

Regarding the hip, would it be worth getting a second opinion, as it doesn't sound as it will get any better over the next 10 years. It may be better getting it sorted out sooner rather than later. A colleague at my work had to have a hip replacement about 18 months ago and he was only 36/37 at the time.0

Just had my left hip replaced (last Monday) and I am 36. I had avascular necrosis of the left femur head and walk with permanent pain. I recieve HRM at the moment too. Bad news is I was diagnosed with the same with my right hip now. But will wait a few years to get that one replaced.
I say get a second opinion and get help filling in the DLA form and remember to think of your worst day when answering the questions.0 -

The forms have to be done on an average day. Well, you can say "on a better day...", "on an average day..." & "on a bad day..." - but the form can't be done on a bad day. it's fraud and obvious if you do this.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

there is always one that comes up with this sint their?
If you complete the forms based on your worst days you can never leave the house without worrying operation trident is waiting with their cameras etc. to get the evidence to do you for benefit fraud, if you tell the truth you can just get on with your life without fear.
I suppose its the disability a doshes "how many nights can my lover stay over without it affecting my benfit" when everyone comes up with diffrent offical ways they were told 2/3 nights pw.0
