Don't you just love it when health professionals treat you like a child but are then very unhelpful! Is it just the midwife that is being unhelpful or could someone else help, maybe the GP or even a helpful HV?

She was passed around alot between her GP, midwife and hospital when trying to find the answers she needed:rolleyes: So, sounds like all of them really.

I just don't know if I am worrying too much:confused: Everytime something happens (like her fall) she rings me in tears. I keep telling her to ring her midwife/GP/hospital first in cases of emergencies ... or even her husband or mother if she needs to get to hospital. I am glad to help her, but am concerned she calls me when she really needs to call the hospital, and when she tells me about accidents when she should be informing her husband/family first. Due to distance and kids, I can't get to her when she needs me :(

I am doing everything I can to make it less stressful than it is .... think I am stressing myself out now .. worrying about it .. possibly too much :o
I can say whatever I like here ... 'cos no one can see me .. ner ner ner ner ner !!!....

How do you know I ain't sitting here butt naked?!?!

I thunk I've made you think for a minute!

not 30 weeks yet ... she was already on anaemia tabs .... as she was very anaemic for years before she got pregnant.

    not taking any vitamins.

You sound like such a good mate. She should have some hand held note with a 24 hr advice line. May be she finds it easier to talk to you that family. Hope she and baby are fine.

I think she's asking a bit too much of you really and not really doing a lot to help herself. I know only too well that medical professionals can be a real pain to deal with - I was shunted from pillar to post when I had my DS but second time round with my DD I was assertive and told them what I wanted and they had to respect that. Do you know her DH well? Can you point out to him that maybe he needs to get involved to get things happening for her?

To be honest no ... I don;t know her husband well at all ..... I know her brother-in-law (he is wonderful) a lot better and have met him many more times, he makes an effort and is always there when we visit. Met her hubby about 3-4 times and language is a big barrier ... although she manages to communicate with him ... think it's 'cos she knows him better:D I think it may have something to do with us knowing her ex who visit's us ... don't think he likes it from what she said ... the fact the we know her and her ex he thought we were in a position to make it possible for her to communicate with him  some silly nonsense like that!

Anyway we are giving them everything they need for their baby (got plenty here after 2 of 'em :D ) killing 2 birds with one stone .... de-clutter and save her a time, stress and costs involved in setting up for a new baby;)

I have asked her to get hubby more involved with hospital visits etc ... he has only been once (to the AE, she was in pain and they discovered she was pregnant then) but she says he is either too busy or forgot or even that she forgot to tell him:confused:

God.... it sounds like she should get a second opinion.
Or perhaps you could go down there when she next visits the doctor/midwife and let them know that your worried/concerned, i know you said its hard with travelling.
Or perhaps you could speak to her midwife/doctor over the phone.

Has she had blood tests done, etc?
It just sounds like she just needs a kick up the bum, to get strong and get some answers from the professionals!
Especially if shes fainting etc, she obviously isnt getting enough nutrition.

Let us know what happens and best wishes

Have offered to go with her ... when she called after her fall, O.H was off on that day so said we would go there and take her to hospital (she didn't want to go and her hubby was abroad). Not very practical ... we are 1.5 hours drive away (and had to get back to pick eldest from school) and hospital/her mums house is 10 minutes from her:D but he wanted to do it anyway:rolleyes: . She said no, and I have since discovered she has not told her hubby or family about the fall.

O/H did say she needs a kick up the tooshy :o and that I am doing too much for her. He got the impression from her that she was happy about losing that much weight whilst being pregnant, which !!!!!! him off, and to be honest, I thought the same too for a while, at the begining ... just things she kept saying e.g "the best diet ever"

her anaemia tabs have been upped after a blood test.

I lost weight during my pregnancy, not much, but by the scales i put on nearly 3lb and spud came out weighing 7lb at 3 weeks early, i personally wasnt eating well, had real bad nausea for about 4 months all day so by the time i felt ok my stomach had shrukn so much i could only eat mini portions.
I was even tested for gestational diabetes coz spud measured a bit big.
I think as longs as she's eating healthy and the baby is growing they will be ok.
    xx
EDIT - sorry just read the rest of the thread! what are these people on? sounds like they all need a kick up the bum! You sound like a really good friend and a help to her, dont have much more advice to give except just trying to get her to eat more fruits etc, or even get vitamins etc that are safe to use in pregnancy xx

Thanks hun .... think the "best diet ever" comment she made probably made me concerned about her priorities:confused: and it all got jumbled up!
