Its NOT theft....
Best thing to do is not to mention it to anyone and enjoy the free gift.... ooops , too late
But seriously, it happens all the time, and they NEVER ask for it back!0 -
If you spent 30minutes on hold, and if its a premium rate number, it would have cost more than the value of it anyway. So Keep it.
*Well that is what I would say to myself to make me feel better for keeping it cos that is what I would do*Mortgage when started (Dec 2005): £120,000
Current mortgage (March 2011): £98,563
Update (Jan 2014): £89,639

:THonesty is the best policy. Do not be seduced into doing the wrong thing by all those who have urged you to keep the wine and say nothing. Email the company. If you had not had your conscience nagging you to do the right thing, then there would be no moral dilema for you. I feel sure that you would not enjoy the wine, unless you are given the green light by the supermarket to keep the wine. I always spot errors of overcharging in the supermarket or any store that I shop, because I am always on a tight budget. Sometimes I have to search for a customer service representative to get my overcharge refunded, but this never deters me. I always check receipts in store, when I have just finished shopping, since a supermarket refused to give me the refund until they physically saw the items I had purchased. I was so annoyed at having to go home to collect the items, that on my return, I got a full refund and left the items behind, as they were not really needed. Be honest, then you really will have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!:):)0

If they hadn't been back in touch within a couple of weeks I'd probably give it to the local old folks home to have with their Christmas dinner...Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

I'd rather have a good quality beer myself!
Has anyone suggested taking the wine back to the local store and putting the bottles back on the shelf?0 -

Please give this MoneySaver the benefit of your advice...Should we keep the wine?We received our weekly grocery delivery this evening from a leading supermarket. My husband accepted it whilst I was otherwise engaged and on checking the order I discovered we'd received 6 bottles of Merlot wine worth over £40 that we hadn’t ordered (or been charged for). My husband said we should keep quiet, but my conscience said otherwise. I called customer services and was on hold for over 30 mins before giving up. Should I persevere and ring again another day, tell the delivery driver next week or keep quiet and consider it an early Christmas present?Click reply to have your say

If you keep it, the delivery person could be accused of theft and lose his job. Do you really want that on your conscience?0 -

Well, I spotted that Lidl had overcharged me by 28p for an item and I got it refunded. As a newbie to this site, you will no doubt learn that a lot of us are decreasing our debts or increasing our savings by being extra vigilant. And that is no exaggeration! :rudolf:
Good post.
I shop at Morrisions and now because of so many errors from the tills I always check my receipts before I leave the store.
at least 15% of the time there is an error. No exageration, so is my opinion worthless. Of course it isnt. Its annoying to say the least.
Getting all your shopping done, packing it, hoicking it into the trolley, checking the receipt away from the tills then having to wait at customer services, then wait till they send someone up the bluddy aisle to check the price. It happens all the time. Its time consuming and very frustrating.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Try to return, at no expense to yourself. If they don't offer to collect or refund any expenses for time and travel, then they are obviously not that concerned and you could have a few nice evenings on them.0

If the wine is not collected by then it is yours.
Anything else is THEFT and you could be prosecuted.
No its not theft it is in fact considered an unsolicited gift.
You didn't ask for it but they delivered it to you, perfectly legal to keep it.
