Transferring car ownership

  • PPs - esmerobbo - don't know. All we thought about was making the car "mine" rather than "mum's" so she doesn't have the responsibility, as she doesn't want to drive anymore anyway - would we need to go as far as the invoice then?
    Sorry for all the qs

If you are registered as the keeper then responsibility for the vehicle becomes yours. Ownership only becomes an issue if its on lease, HP or a company car, were the registered keeper does not actually own the car. Even then it is the registered keeper not the owner who is responsible for what happens with the car.

As your Mum has ownership she can simply give you the car and you register it in your name with DVLA. If you feel better she can simply write a receipt saying she as the owner has given you her daughter motor car registration number #######
