Don't close the case whatever you do. If you close it then ebay will think you don't want a refund anymore and it will be hard to open a paypal case.
Ebay disputes are ok, I had to open one about 6 months ago as I had an item not receieved.
Sometimes they 'forget' to refund you after 10 days so it's worth ringing ebay after 10 days if no refund is received.
Don't forget to leave negative feedback once you get your money back.
Don't be put off using ebay, there are only a minority of bad sellers, most of them are ok.
If the seller offers a mutual cancelletion, refuse it. Make them pay their fees.
