Still not got my V5 after 7+ months

    Hi, the car will have been brand new but the broker will have had it registered to a 'holding' company in order that the manufacturer does not find out that the franchised dealer is selling the car at way below the normal target price. After 6 months the broker will usually sent out the v5 showing you as the 2nd registered owner. I have bought cars this way in the past but the process has always been explained prior to ordering.

    This "trick" doesn't go down well with the manufacturers, and although it's no help to the OP - I'd personally NEVER buy a car uing this method and advise others to do the same.

    There's enough legitimate first registered keeper deals out there.

    How legal is it for the OP to driving around in a car which isn't registered in his name, but he would presumably have told his insurance that it was. What happens in the event of a claim? :eek:

    I doubt they can escape liability because of this (see no MOT, etc) but I agree it's a concern.
