Nothing I should think (and hope!). He'll be 20 years old, he can easily get a part time job to do alongside his studying.

hes been at collage from being 16 applied for loads of jobs and can't get one, hes handed a cv into every store in town and take away place, and only had one interview in all that time, hes doing a collage course to get a trade to help him find a job. so he can't easily get a part time job hes tried

Please do not answer anymore, was only after some advice, but don't bother.
Only wanted to know how he would support himself while trying to get himself a trade, but it looks like all everyone is doing is being insulting.

  • You will no longer get anything for your son as he will be an adult.

My daughter stayed on at 6th form and due to having major surgery she had to do another year but they did say at the tax credit office that the day your son/daughter turns 20 they are classed as an adult as other posters have said, you could check with college there is an adult learning grant that they could claim in their own right it is £30 per week but as a parent you are not entitled to anything from the tax credit or family allowance.

He might be able to get an adult learning grant.
