Hi Im 38 and been on income support for a few years now, last year I moved into a new property which is on an estate with 33 other houses, and has LPG gas only, supplied by a company called 'FLOGAS'.
Due to my depression and health reasons I havent paid the bill and now owe £806.40, plus to reconnect they want a further £150.
It is my fault for letting the bill get in this mess which i understand.
However I phoned them and said that i need gas as My cooker is gas, and central heating is gas.
So i offered a payment plan they said we dont do that so unless you pay in full its tough!
I have had no heating for 2 weeks and cant cook any food (except in a microwave).
Flogas apparantly are the only supplier and to change all 34 houses would need to change??
My friend who now lives with phoned to ask for gas in her name, but they said they need to speak to my landlord??
So im stuck and my health is deterirating and she has had to go to the doctors also - who have now put her on the sick, due to health/depression/anxiety.
Now although its my fault for not paying originally, im now stuck in a house freezing, monopolised by flogas..
Is there anything we can do??
Thanks friends

Just plug in a electric heater and you will have heating available and if your cooker isnt working just use those camp stoves that run on bottled gas or an portable electric stove.0

I quote "im now stuck in a house freezing" so where exactly is the pee taking when you still have electricity? There are many homes around that use electric heating and cooking...0

That was good advice. You shouldn't have let the account get out of hand. If you don't want an electric heater then put more clothes on and get a blanket. If you are unhappy with microwaved food then get a camping stove.0

What sort of payment plan did you offer them-how much per month? A few pounds a week isn't going to suffice with a debt of that size, which must be well over a year's supply?
If you maybe offer them a lump sum (say 50% down) and the rest over an agreed period, then they might reconsider. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Do not comment if you arent mature enough to offer constructive advice.
Disgusting!
I'll give you some constructive advice...
Pay for what you use then you wouldn't be in this situation where you are asking for advice anyway!
"bengalknights" made a perfectly good suggestion. I am "all electric" - you can be too!0 -
A thousand pounds debt - here, I'll pay it off at three pounds per week. Flogas are doing the right thing - they should not be throwing good money after bad.
Rather than getting in a huff about using your remaining fuel source I would suggest you concentrate on paying that bill so it doesn't get cut off as well.
In future, paying essential bills should be given priority over, say, high-definition televisions.0
