You were robbed and betrayed before you knew about it. We are trying to stop the same injustice happening to us but only because we are aware of it.

We should be on the same side fighting injustice wherever that may be!

So where have you been for the last 10 years ?

My gripe is that your guys have only woken up to the carnage that's been happening in the pensions arena for the past 10-15 years (much of it caused by the last Government's policies) when there's something happened that's directly affected you.

All this 'we're all in this together' mantra is all well and good but where were the unions, public sector et al when Gordon was helping himself to our nest eggs, IMHO to fund the heavily unionised public sector's massively subsidised pensions.

....................(whooooshing sound of tumbleweed drifting across desert).

BTW do you have answer on #438 ?

The fact was that was your fight, this now is our fight and constantly sniping at our attempts seems rather futile.

It appears that the services wish to be considered a special case and are .gaining support.

There are two pleasures (if that is the word) reading this thread.

The first is seeing how the zealouts wriggle their way out of the question about where were they when private sector pensions were raided. All in this together, my a**e.

The second is knowing that the completely self-absorbed fight is completely pointless and doomed to fail.

Old Slaphead, I was actually working and I was also fighting the previous Government over my pension when it brought in the age discrimination act. The attack on pensions has been going on for as you say 10 to 15 years but I didn't take on your fight, I took on mine. This is a different fight but nonetheless it is an attack on pensions yet again and I am fighting to save what I paid for, that's all.

Sorry about 438, I missed it. The EDM is designed to get the message out to the MP's so that they are fully aware of this issue. I would hope that enough sign it so that they consider there position when the indexing issue comes to the vote. Doing nothing is not an option and getting the message across to MP's and the public at large is the aim, the EDM is just one way of doing that.

Please join us in our efforts to stop another injustice.

Bendix, you obviously did not read my comments to you. I will say again. This is not only affecting Public Sector pensions, it is also affecting many private sector pensions.

Indeed, you fight your own cause, not someone else's. My private sector pensions are next to worthless, my wife also paid into Equitable Life pension again next to worthless but I have also worked for three different public/private sector employers affected by this change and after many years working in the private sector my wife also worked for the public sector. It is (obviously) those pension agreements (win or fail) that I will fight for. The fact that many private sector pensions suffered was your fight, now this is mine.

yeah, but we're all in this together, right?

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

As someone who cares about public finances, paying ridiculous amounts of tax and all those good things, I sincerely hope your campaign falls flat on its backside.
  • This could easily be sorted. Your employer provides you with remuneration in several forms, not least of which is salary and pension rights.

There is no agreement (honourable or not) to provide specific amounts of pay rises for the rest of your working life.

As a tax payer, I would be reasonably comfortable with the idea that every year, from now on, that any agreed increase in remuneration each year be offered on a more flexible basis.

You would be informed of this year's 'extra' being awarded, and you would be quoted how much of the total would need to be added to give you an extra 80th RPI linked, and how much to give you an extra 80th CPI linked. The remaining amount (after your decision) would be added to your salary.

When you retire, you could choose initial pension RPI linked, or higher initial pension CPI linked. Up to you.

What could be fairer than that?

Thank you that is my point see my original letter on page 20.

I have no problem with that & I applaud you for your collective stand on this issue.

But drop all this "we're all in it together" and "the British people are being conned" propaganda.

Tell the truth - you're angry because you think you've been conned and the people being affected are those with the most generous, highly subsidised pensions ie the pension rich. Not the poor suckers who are having to provide for themselves.

Of those, the biggest sufferers will be those with the biggest pension (ie MPs, doctors, police inspectors, head teachers, senior civil servants etc etc) or with hugely favourable early retirement terms. Again those who've got the best deal.

The average punter will not notice much diffference (and anyway if they do, they'll be in their dotage and heavily reliant on the state health service).

Bendix and Old Slaphead, you both refer to 'we are all in this together' etc.. I have never claimed that ridiculous sentiment. Allow me to make my position clear: I'm fighting purely for myself and with those with similar aims.

For those affected at least the Daily Mirror is supporting the fight.
