I had a similar problem with my Freeview box that actually started when the wet weather arrived last month. I lost MUX A with all the FIVE channels, abc1 etc. They weren't on a good signal to begin with.
I deduced, after much research, that my old coax aerial cable was the problem. It was the old brown stuff that had been in place for years and was ok for analogue TV but which isn't good for digital signals and was not double-shielded from outside electrical interference....hence it was leaking like a sieve signal-wise plus , more importantly, the old outer coating had perished and cracked so it was letting in the rainwater which made MUX A disappear.
I bought some satellite grade cable WF100 (foam-filled one as it was to run down an outside wall at 60p per metre from !!!!!!.uk) which has double copper shielding. I connected it all up properly to my aerial, checked the compass setting for the transmitter... et voila!
My signal is now back at more than double the strength of the previous one and I can sit back knowing that the weather can throw it's worst at the cable and I'll still be able to watch all the Freeview channels.0 -

Thanks for posting your experience, this looks a possible reason for my problem. The cable is the same age/same cable as the other one but could have got worn or weather beaten as it is down the other side of the house.
I am going to get the TV downstairs & try it there, when I can! If that's the problem I then just need to work out how to get it fixed!! (on a tight budget & not involving me going on the roof :rotfl: )0 -
If you can find someone able to get on the roof to do the dirty work, it won't cost you a fortune to replace the cable.
I bought 15m of cable at 60p per metre + £5 p&p. It was delivered the next day (even with selecting 3 day service!)
But make sure you get WF100 or H109 copper double-shielded cable however you get it done.0
