It's a good job you don't work there now!

Thank god. I hated it.
Here is the info from NUS which says about the 21hrs.

Like I said earlier really the OP should ask someone at their uni- I;m sure they deal with this kind of query all the time."It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice." :T0 -
How about the OP does what both my brothers did and get a job?0

OP to accept jsa you would have to agree to give up uni so would you be able to do that, have you looked at xmas temp jobs, try royal mail, sainsburys, boots, maybe marks, game and gamestation, there are most likely more but you can find them yourself0

The only full time students who can claim benefits are those who are disabled or lone parents.0

Your uni should have a Hardship Fund/Financial Contingency Fund that might be able to help you with a one off grant to cover living expenses, but they will go over your finances with a fine tooth comb, so be prepared for searching questions about your income and, more importantly, your outgoings.
Edit: Also, your Students' Union may run a jobshop for temping work - might be possible to grab a few days here and there.Credit Card - £300 Overdraft - £2000.
Student Loan - £19001.00.

I concur with everyone else's advice but also suggest that there are a lot of p/t jobs that work around university life - supermarkets, subway, etc. Cafes and stores like subway, etc usually have a high turnover and can work to your schedule. There's no rule to say you can't work during University unless you are a foreign student then I believe your visa restricts you to 20 hours (or there about not completely sure).
JSA is for people seeking jobs, a full time course at University does not = seeking for jobs. 14 teaching hours is actually quite a lot, I guess you're not on an arts course lol, plus you WILL need some time for self-study. I say this because when I took on a lot of work (worked 4 days a week around Uni work) to fund some study abroad, my grades suffered dramatically because I couldn't face studying after a day in the cafe. Definitely see your Student Union, my friend proved her low income and got around £100 ish pounds from them. Plus they can giv eyou more info on possible grants you are entitled to.

Yes, sounds easy doesn't it? My 18 year old son started university in September and it took him eight weeks to find a job doing anything. He even did a trial shift sellng double glazing door to door.
As it is, the only job he's been offered from 50 applications is a Christmas temp job at Asda which finishes on Christmas Eve.
Forty seven of the fifty applications he submitted didn't even reply.
He's worked from the age of 14 delivering papers and then part time in the local Co-Op and he was really shocked at how hard it was to find work when he left home."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
That's awful, its so demoralising when that happens, especially when you've loads of retail experience. I was lucky and got the first job I applied for; don't really enjoy it like my job back home though.Yes, sounds easy doesn't it? Asda's really good though, a friend (also a student) works there in his holidays and gets paid loads. 0 -
I worked as a waitress, NHS Direct callhandler, freelance magazine writer, catalouge deliverer, Avon seller, playscheme worker and pizza delivery driver while at uni - usually just two or three at a time though, not all at once
