can I Recieve JSA if at Uni?

Hi, im really struggling for money at the moment.. Ive been searching for a job but no luck. I was receiving JSA just before i started uni and then cut it off as i was told i wasn't aloud to sign on being a uni student..

Is it possible to get JSA while at Uni?

I only do 14hrs a week..

any help will be appreciated thanks !

    Do not think you can get JSA but you may be entitled to some benefits as a part time student (i assume the 14 hrs is your uni hrs). You should speak to a student adviser they should be able to help.

  • No, you will not be eligible for JSA whilst at Uni.

    Fourteen hours in attendance at uni will almost certainly be a full time course.

    This is true. My uni course was 12 hours and that was classed as full-time.

    I worked for the benefits dept at the council and people had to be in for at least 21 hrs to be classified full time for council tax exemption.

    I am not aware of many (if any) uni that has 21 hours class facing time. Maybe expected study time but 21 hours of classes would be extremely high.

    The CT forms says 21 hours including private study. I filled one in recently.
