How many cars have you seen with the notices in the back saying please drive carefully little princess in the car, and the driver is driving like a lunatic, with no consideration for anyone else.

I blew one a kiss once, I must admit though he didn't look like a little princess. :)

Generally the BBC is pretty good but I was close to smashing the radio the day that they ran a program about "miaow miaow" and how Prof Nutt was wrong about drugs. It was textbook heart-tugging emotional pap and seemed to ignore statistical risk levels altogether.

People feel its ok to drive at 35-40mph in 30 zones so if this comes in maybe they will apply the same thinking and drive at 25-30mph in a 20.
The evidence says otherwise. Measured average and 85% percentile speeds generally reduce very slightly when posted limits are lowered, though sometimes they don't change at all.

I think the 20 limit campaigns are a waste of time - measurements show that most traffic goes more slowly than 30mph on narrow residential roads when visibility is low. Those that exceed the 30 limit will also ignore the 20 limit.

It's a classic case of "something must be done".

The BBC now means The Bolshevik Broadcasting Company previously known as The Bliar Broadcasting Corporation, previously known as a great British institution.

    Whatever next!!!!!!

I suppose they'll be telling me I shouldn't drive on the pavement to avoid the speed humps, or I shouldn't park on it just because people want to get pushchairs past!
