On BBC breakfast / various websites are indicating that the iPad 3G will be reduced to £229!!! I WANT ONE, BUT there's a catch!!
You have to sign up to a data plan for 18 or 24 months! Looks like Orange/Tmobile will start the price war.

So it isn't free then.
It's just the same "free laptop" scam that ends up with you paying far more for the laptop and dongle through the deal than you would getting each individually.
Of course with one being born every minute they'll probably shift loads of them.0 -

No way i'd sign up to a mobile broadband dongle on contract as you can't quantify how much data you will need and the charges are excessive if you go over an allowance!!
We nearly all know, nothing really is free so they recoup that lappy etc. cost from you a few fold over the lifetime of your contract!!!0 -
A contract just for the dongle can work out OK.
I got a 3GB £15 a month 12 month contract a couple of years back together with £90 Quidco so £7.50 a month. When it came up for renewal I got it for £7.50 quite easily - only catch being you have to renew for 12 months each time.
That deal suits me - you can do a lot of email and surfing on 3GB - all you need do is avoid doing much in the way of downloading and streaming - I can do that easily enough on my cable connection at home. I could get probably 3 cheaper or more data but their coverage where I use it most is NBG, I generally only use 2GB anyway and the Vodafone cell is only 100m away so it's no contest.
The usual laptop deal involves 24 months and often at £25 so that is £17.50 a month more than I pay for the data or £420 for a ~ £300 laptop.0 -
It wont be using a usb dongle at all it will be using the internal 3g connection.one of the famous 50

But, veering slightly, rumours on the net are that ipad 2.0 will be around same price as current model so, with the extra features, a better deal? Apple realise the market is growing so are trying to be competitive? Or am I just day-dreaming?0

Not really given that the first few posts were talking about dongles which have no relevance to the ipad.
Which is why i said. Stop talking about things that are not needed then people will stop pulling you up on it.one of the famous 50 -
Viking direct selling Ipads at 2% cheaper than Apple Store.
You can get it via opcashback or quidco.
In addition, they have next day free delivery and don't forget to add their freebie into your basket (usually chocolates and on their homepage).
Setting up an account is a bit awkward and they have prices ex VAT, but their customer service is excellent. Very happy with them so far.0 -

kwikbreaks wrote: »The way these deals work is by selling an overpriced contract to cover the price of whatever is "free" it used to be a laptop, dongle, and SIM and now it seems it will be an iPad and SIM. It remains the same scam whatever the hardware supplied.
Its not a scam. They tell you quite clearly what you are about to enter into. You don't have to enter into the contract if you don't want to.
THERE IS NO SCAM AND NO DONGLEone of the famous 50
