All the contract phones i have had were sim free and unlocked to any network so not sure what is going on with yours. Sorry.

There will be a background (wallpaper) image, and sometimes a welcome message, but what happens after a few seconds?

I have an old 3210 phone that still says Welcome to Orange on first switch-on, but then gives the relevant network like Virgin or O2

When we put the orange sim i tried to call the number but it coming as switched off so m not sure
  • Being "branded" or unlocked to a network are two different things, do you want to use the phone with an Orange sim card and does it work with the Orange sim card?

First i tried with orange and then my O2 sim but both go on ans. machine. also it doesnt say anything about charging the phone so i tried the sim without charging do u think may be thats the case all teh phones has to be charged but it doesnt say anything in the book and the battery does comes as fully charged too.
  • Generally a battery will need to be fully charged before use.

If it's not working for either sim, then that suggests something is up with the phone.
Once you switch it on and the initial welcome screen and o2 logo etc pass, what happens? The first time you switch the phone on with a new sim it can take a while to register.
