I wonder if the OP is aware just how damned heavy a Rangemaster cooker is?
I have one and have been retiling the kitchen - because of how heavy this is I am having to wait until I can get more people to help me shift it before doing behind it.
It WILL take special lifting equipment or many strong fella's and then what happens if it gets bashed during this? JL or Rangemaster will not be responsible.
If you want one (and they are good cookers) get it delivered to someone lower down and then arrange for your own moving of it up the steps, perhaps some scaffolding boards, skateboards, ropes & pulleys may be of use0 -
We once managed to get our delivery team to carry a US-style fridge freezer up three flights of stairs. Eventually.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -

My husband and dad almost came to blows manoevreing our American Style FF into the kitchen one Christmas Eve and that was on the ground floor!"If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
I remember a tesco delivery guy being quite upset he had to carry 2 crates of shopping up to my flat, but he looked like he needed the exercise.0

When we placed the order with John Lewis there was a Rangemaster rep there. Both JL and the rep spoke to Rangemaster, telling them about the 13 steps up to our flat - everything was ok and fine! Rangemaster also sent us a survey which we completed, still everything fine. Then when Rangemaster arrived to deliver they then refused to carry it up the stairs - the stairs they knew about. They said if John Lewis would send a couple of guys to help then it wouldnt be a problem, but they wouldnt.
What Im annoyed about was the fact that both JL and the Rangemaster rep had sorted all this out at the point of order - (I was there for nearly an hour whilst they were talking on the phone to Rangemaster) it would have been better if I had been told from the start that they couldnt do it!
Yes I understand that it is a heavy item, but it didnt stop Rangemaster delivering our previous range 9 years ago!
I have since spoken to the Rangemaster rep, who was also horrified that this had happened, especially as she had sorted it out.
I appreciate that "health and safety" laws have changed but, because I live in a flat, why should I be penalised?
On a happy note, I have now been to my local Domestic Appliance shop, who came around and had a look. He was gobsmacked that nobody wanted to deliver - especially as our outdoor stairs are a lot wider than indoor stairs. He has arranged for a range to be delivered to his store, then he and his work colleagues will deliver and install for us.
Finally, I will say that JL refunded me immediately, and added a small compensation amount to cover all the phone calls and the credit card interest charge, so I have changed my mind in that I will shop in JL again - in fact I have just accepted a quote for new flooring......0 -

To be fair, assuming what you say is right (and not doubting you), it would really be for JL to sort the problem out.
Anyway, glad you got it sorted.0
