Own-initiative investigation into the TalkTalk Group concerning compliance with General Condition 24 – sales and marketing of fixed-line telecommunications services CW/01059/11/10
Complainant: Own-initiative investigation following complaints from members of the public.
Complaint against: TalkTalk Group Ltd (“TTG”)
Case opened:19 November 2010
Issue: Whether TTG has complied with its obligations under General Condition 24
Relevant Instrument: General Condition 24 (“GC24”) of the General Conditions of Entitlement concerning the Sales and Marketing of Fixed-Line Telecommunications Services.
Ofcom has opened this investigation following complaints from consumers who claim to have been mis-sold a fixed-line telephone service by TTG or have had their service switched to TTG without their consent.
Ofcom’s investigation will examine whether there are reasonable grounds for believing that TTG has failed to comply with the requirements of GC24 concerning the mis-selling prohibition (GC24.3) and information provided at point of sale (GC24.6). The investigation will also look at TTG’s compliance with other sections of GC24 as appropriate.

I know TT are expecting a big fine from the current investigation and now this second investigation it does not look good for any potential buyer of Talk Talk!0

Buyer? What do you know then?stevenagesaint wrote: »I know TT are expecting a big fine from the current investigation and now this second investigation it does not look good for any potential buyer of Talk Talk!Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
We're at the OFCOM stage with them now, regarding sales calls (we are a customer), they phone everyday for weeks, get told every single time bill payer is here after 7pm, they manage to catch her and then a few weeks later it all starts again.
It go so bad after i'd had this every day for 2 weeks the last time, Mum answered and hung up without waiting for the call to click in, that I pretty much shouted at her, did you have to do that, they'll be pestering me everyday again now you haven't spoken to them! Having had enough of this we contacted them, got an agreement of no sales calls, and contact after 7PM for account business etc, guess what's started again, 3 calls in 3 days!
Told the latest call we are not supposed to recieve sales calls, she said she'd make a note of it and then something garbled I couldn't even understand. I'd bet money on another call tomorrow!0 -
Let's hope this awful company receives such a hefty fine that they will no longer be able to trade and will have to go into liquidation.0

Well what do you know, I was wrong, next call was another one today  2 sales calls in one day, a new low! As soon as I said they weren't supposed to do sales, and you have already called today, she said fine, goodbye, so obviously it was. I would stop answering all together although expecting some important Hospital stuff through which may be by phone, now I get to cringe everytime the phone rings
