Problems with Pixmania

Can anybody help me with what action I should take next? I purchased a Rowenta kettle from Pixmania.com on 1st November 2010. It was delivered on 4 November by courier. When I opened the package it was found to be badly damaged to the extent that the based had become partially detached from the body. I immediately emailed Pixmania who asked me to contact the supplying company Dimipro.com (in France). I emailed them straight away asking for a refund or replacement. They told me I had to claim on the courier. I pointed out that that is their job not mine. I offered to return the kettle to them but the cost by International Parcelforce would be £41.99 and would require prepayment of this. They told me not to return the kettle and said they would contact the Post Office, presumably in France. I have had an email from them now saying the Post Office refuses to accept the claim. It appears that they, Dimipro, are washing their hands of this. Pixmania will not get involved although I have emailed them countless times. I have again written to them, Dimipro and Pixmania, asking for a replacement or a refund as I believe is my right.
Any help on what action I can take?

Wow! Pixmania actually monitoring t'internet. Surprised? You bet I am because they've never seemed to care in the past about customers.
There are plenty of threads on MSE about Pixmania. Combine the legendary Dixon Store Group service and French indifference and it's a recipe for disaster. The man without a signature.0
